PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

CSC Sugar, LLC., New Canaan, CT

Director of Domestic Logistics, 2009-2011

Commodity trading company and sugar refiner. One of the largest importers and exporters of raw and refined sugar in the USA. In 2009, the company created a less expensive, more environmentally-friendly liquid sugar product, which resulted in massive customer growth and required major expansion of facilities and vast increase in movement of sugar across the USA. I was hired to form and manage the New Business Logistics division of the company to manage this growth. Job functions included attending sales meetings with future customers to obtain new business, managing our own and leased fleet, and negotiating rates with railroad companies, transload stations, warehouses and truck carriers. Lead a team of 3 anaylists, 6 plant managers, 1 Engineer and 1 Operations Manager.

Accomplishments:

• Planned intensively with freight carriers which resulted in error-free start-up for multiple new CSC facilities that opened across the USA during this timeframe

• Negotiated trucking rates in the Northeast that nearly matched our competitor whose volume is multiple times that of CSC

• Held rates flat with the BNSF for 2011, while other companies of our size received a 7%-12% increase

• Dropped rail transit times by nearly half (from 8-10 days to 4-6 days)

• Established Performance Reporting with truck companies, seeking ways to improve on-time delivery

• Converted all truck carriers to the National Fuel Surcharge instead of their internal surcharge system, which is usually 3-5% higher

B. Little & Co., New York, NY

Director of Logistics, 2008-2008

Manufacturer of kid’s meal toys produced in China and distributed worldwide. I was hired to create standard operating procedures to provide structure to an unstructured logistics team, as well as to negotiate rates for moving product via ocean, air, rail and truck, to ensure distribution centers had sufficient inventory to fulfill customer demands and to assist with the development of P&L’s for new projects. Lead a team of 5 in China and a team of 5 in the USA

Accomplishments:

• After potential contamination was discovered on product that was already being transported on a ship, I effectively coordinated the shipment to go to a gamma ray facility for decontamination, then coordinated the logistics from this location on to the customer

Alliance Shippers INC., Keasbey, NJ

Operations Manager, 2005-2007

Third-party logistics provider (3PL). I was hired to manage the day-to-day logistical operations of several large accounts, including Diageo and was responsible for over 300 railcars per month departing from domestic and foreign breweries to numerous locations throughout the USA. Forecasted availability to ensure customers demands were met, ensured high priority loads were shipped utilizing proper OTR carriers, analyzed and reported the Weekly and Monthly Financial and Service KPI’s, Analyzed data for continuous process improvements. Lead a staff of 8 analysts and 2 salespeople

Accomplishments:

• Realizing there was space on each pallet that was going unused due to the mismatch in design between the product packaging dimensions and the pallet dimensions, I worked with R&D on a new design that allowed approximately 6 more pallets of product to fit in the same railcar, which decreased overall delivery costs as well as reduced the cost of donnage (packing material). After executing the new pallet design, our increased delivery capacity gave Diageo the ability to supply more product, which resulted in a 30% increase in sales

• Took advantage of the slow times for carriers and rail road companies to negotiate extremely low rates and increased our product shipments during those time periods

• Having issues with rail equipment availability, I determined that we could move product via truck to the Northeastern market and the cost difference would be minimal and transit times faster. Making Northeastern deliveries by truck instead of rail allowed us to use our limited rail equipment for deliveries that covered longer distances
