Championed 6S program methodologies with multiple stakeholders throughout the RSTA Florida Division.
Operations Manager, Optical Fabrication, 2001 – 2008
Reporting to the Director of Operations, managed a two shift optical fabrication department that supported division revenues exceeding $400 million annually. Directed personnel development, training, team coaching, productivity metrics, production planning, process improvement, and overhead spending. In this role:
• Led a Six Sigma Green Belt project focused on IR lens processing to a CNC process which increased shop capacity by 87%. The success realized on this initiative justified the acquisition of more capital equipment to lessen the requirement for lens outsourcing.
• Full P&L responsibility for the fabrication departments and managed overhead budgets exceeding $1 million annually. Authorized all purchase requisitions, capital equipment requisitions, earned value metrics, and prepared basis of estimates for the department.
• Implemented doubled-sided processing for critical IR beam splitter components that increased throughput on this program by 46%.
• Supplied critical optical components that met quality specifications, within forecasted budgets, that were delivered on time. Programs served were military ground, air, and sea that are currently in theater around the world.

• Designed and built a fabrication shop in Charlotte, North Carolina optimized for manual polishing operations and specific ergonometric requirements of the technicians. Each station was setup with the required microscopy and metrology to reduce inspection cycles required on each component which optimized technician productivity.
• Improved shop capacity by increasing productivity by 50%.
• Managed the transition of the Morris Plains, New Jersey shop to the new location in Charlotte without missing any scheduled deliveries. Blended the cultures of these two geographic regions seamlessly into one cohesive team focused on the company mission.
