Knowledge and skills:

Knowledge of techniques in the medical laboratory in the areas of chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis and serology.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Skilled in the use of complex analyzers, microscopes, incubators, centrifuges and similar instruments used in laboratory tests.

Ability to work Independently, efficiently, and productively while maintaining control under stressful and emergency conditions.

Proficient in the military health service computer program, Composite Health Care System (CHCS).

- Perform daily QC and maintenance on reagents and equipment

- Assured proper specimen collection and preservation

- Confirm and verified test results using knowledge of techniques of medical laboratory practices

- Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood, urine, using microscopic or automatic analyzer and enter results into the computer.

- Inoculate bacteriological media with organisms.

- Collect blood or tissue samples from patients, observing principles of asepsis.
