1. Clinical Chemistry

• Run controls everyday and perform calibration of the machine to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results and proper functioning of the machines involve in Clinical Chemistry.

• Perform analysis on Blood samples and other body fluids such as urine, CSF, and other body fluids.

• Enter results in the computer and keeping all results confidential.

• Release lab. Result only to authorized personnel.

• Prepare samples for special test for referral.

2. Hematology

• Run controls everyday to ensure proper functioning of the machine and reagents in order to ensure the accuracy of lab. Results.

• Perform CBC, Blood group, Sickle cell test, G6PD.

• Perform coagulation studies (PT, PTT, Fibrinogen).

• Keeping everyday records confidential.

3. Clinical Microscopy and Parasitology

• Perform routine Urinalysis and routine stool analysis.

• Perform pregnancy test.

• Perform semen analysis

• Perform chemical analysis and cell count on other body fluids like CSF, Synovial fluid, Exudates and Transudates.

• Perform occult blood on stool samples.

4. Microbiology

• Perform Gram stain on various samples.

• Perform acid fast stain.

• Perform Culture and sensitivity from Blood, Urine, Pus, High Vaginal swab and other body fluids.

5. Serology

• Perform CRP, RF, Widal, Brucella, ASO, Dengue dot, SLE.

• Perform HBsAg, HIV, HCV, VDRL.

6. Blood Banking.

• Perform coomb’s test ( ICT, DAT)

• Perform crossmatching for Blood transfusion.

• Release Blood units to authorized personnel.

• Perform (CBC) Complete Blood Count

• Perform Coagulation studies such as PT,PTT,FIBRINOGEN

• Perform Blood typing

2. Clinical Chemistry

• Conduct Chemical analysis on Blood samples Such as, FBS, Urea/BUN, Creatinine, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Uric Acid, SGOT, SGPT, ALP, Total Bilirubin, Direct Bilirubin, Indirect Bilirubin, Total Protein, Albumin, Globulin, A/G ratio, Calcium, Phosphorous, Creatinine clearance, Gamma GT, Amylase.

• Run controls(Normal and Abnormal) to ensure accuracy on the results and to monitor proper functioning of the machine and reagents involve in the Clinical Chemistry Section.

3. Clinical Microscopy and parasitology

• Perform Urinalysis to Identify the cause of disease such as UTI(Urinary Tract Infection) and other diseases involving the kidney.

• Perform Semen analysis.

• Perform Cell Count and chemical analysis for CSF and Other body fluids.

• Perform Stool Analysis to Identify different parasites.

• Perform Occult Blood.

• Perform pregnancy testing.

4. Microbiology

• Perform culture on bacteria from different samples from patients.

• Perform Acid Fast and Gram Stain.

5. Serology

• Perform serological test such as HBsAg, HCV, HIV testing. As well as RCP,RF, Widal/Typhi dot, Brucella, SLE, ASO.

• Perform quality control to ensure accuracy on clinical data.

• Perform inventory and maintenance on the equipments, machines, reagents involve in the function of the laboratory.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

1. Clinical Chemistry

• Supervise and conduct chemical analysis of body fluids such as urine, blood and spinal fluid to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.

• Perform analysis on blood such as Blood Sugar, Urea, Creatinine, Uric acid, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride (KFT) and LFT( SGOT, SGPT, ALP, Total Bilirubin, Direct Bilirubin, Indirect Bilirubin, Total Protein, Albumin, Globulin,/A/G ratio. Cardiac profile, Lipid profile, Gamma GT, Phosphorous, Calcium, HBA1C, Amylase.

• Perform quality control on Daily basis to ensure accuracy of clinical data.

• Perform Chemical Analysis on CSF and other body fluids.

2. Hematology

• Study blood cells their number and morphology to determine their relation to various physiological and pathological conditions

• Establish procedure for the analysis of specimen and for medical laboratory experiments

1. Perform Blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.

2. Analyze tests results and enter findings in computer

• Perform quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned instruments and equipments according to established schedule and procedure

• Verify instruments functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments, logs and repairs, replacements and maintenance of needed equipment

• Engage in Medical Research under the direction of the Chief Medical Technologist

• Perform CRP, RF, ASO, HBsAg, HIV, HCV, Widal, Brucella, SLE, HAV Ab.

• Keep accurate written records of all the work done in the laboratory and never give our confidential data except to authorize persons.

4. Blood Bangking

• Perform Blood Typing on patient and donor’s Blood.

• Perform crossmatching for transfusion purposes.

• Do Blood letting on Blood Donors.

5. Microbiology

• Perform Gram Stain and Acid Fast Stain.

• Perform Culture for bacteria on samples such as blood, Urine, SCF and Other Body Fluids.

6. Clinical Microscopy and parasitology.

• Perform urinalysis to identify the normal and abnormal contents which is significant in the early diagnosis of a disease and a disease process.

7. Immunochemistry

• Perform Thyroid function test (FT3, FT4, TSH, T3, T4,).

• Perform Testosterone, Estrogen, Progesterone.
