I have 24 years professional experience in overhead power transmission field from project conceptual stages through detailed design to delivery of low voltage (LV) to extra high voltage (EHV) lines.

Have a good knowledge and experience within a transmission utility, contractor, consultancy and supply environment. Specifically 12 years international experience of which has been associated with new line design, consultancy from specification to delivery, study and strengthening design of existing lines for refurbishment/re-rating, asset management, investigation of site problems, design management including identify resources and OHL’s components study/selection using PLS CADD and PLS Tower.

I have a very good understanding of international transmission specifications specifically UK transmission technical policies, technical specifications, H&S and environmental regulations along with knowledge of modern transmission technologies and design software tools.

In past I have been involved in training/mentoring of graduate engineers and the development of training modules/programme. I am capable to identify the resources and can train, develop & lead the team of various background engineers for all OHL engineering activities.

Specialise experience of costing, bidding, detailed design, detailing, testing, supply, erection and maintenance of OHL support structures including the conceptual design and study of new structures. • National Grid: Lead OHL Design Assurance/Verification Engineer (TP141A National Grid, UK): Act as Lead Overhead Line Design Assurance/Verification Engineer for National Grid (UK), schemes for Rehabilitation of 400kV and 275kV overhead line networks; refurbishment, diversion, line entry, up rating, reconductoring and new line design in different stages; Option selection (IP2), Development (IP2), Project design (IP3), Detail design (IP3) and Detailed Design Delivery (DDD).

• Lead the design assurance/verification work on behalf of the National Grid in terms of representation, spokesman, technology coordination and interface for a specific scheme/site. UK: Principal OHL Project Design Engineer, Belfour Beatty Utility Solutions (National Grid - Electricity Alliance East, Rugby (Sept 2009 to August 2011)

• National Grid: Lead OHL Design Verification Engineer (TP141A National Grid, UK): Act as Lead Overhead Line Design Verification Engineer for National Grid (UK), schemes for Rehabilitation of 400kV and 275kV overhead line networks; refurbishment, diversion, line entry, up rating, reconductoring and new line design with detail design engineering. Including design management in different stages; Option selection (IP2), Development (IP2), Project design (IP3), Detail design (IP3) and Detailed Design Delivery (DDD).

UK: Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer, Mott Macdonald Group, Brighton (May 2007 – August 2009)

• I was responsible for design and refurbishment of overhead transmission line including design and reinforcement of supporting structures which involved creating, checking and modifying line models (using PLS CADD program). Responsibility for load calculations as per relevant standards like BSEN 50341 for selection of overhead line components, design of support structures and reinforcement design of existing towers to facilitate the new conductor type. Audit and review of others’ designs, involved modeling, force analysis, member design with manual calculation and the use of latest analysis software including PLS Tower and STAAD Pro.

• National Grid: Various projects for rehabilitation of 400 kV, 275 kV and 132 kV overhead lines network: Design (PLS CADD), strengthening design, tower design and modelling check (PLS Tower).

• National Grid: I have done strength assessment and reinforcement design to enable reutilization of Dinorwig to Pentir overhead line (275kV double circuit, 86 towers, National Grid, UK) using PLS CADD/Tower program.

• National Grid: I was responsible for the walk-through survey including tower condition assessment, strength assessment and quantified risk assessment for Indian Queen to Alverdiscott (400kV/286 towers) and Rainhill to Fiddlers Ferry (275kV/26 towers) overhead lines (National Grid UK).

• Netherlands (TenneT): I have undertaken design verification of TenneT (Netherland) Wateringen 380/150kV quadruple circuit special (novel design) welded tubular terminal tower.

• Netherlands (TenneT): In my last job for Mott MacDonald, for TenneT (Netherland) project (220kV/270 towers) I checked the strength and study/designed the reinforcement of existing overhead line to transmit more power through new bigger conductor. Scope was covered to review and study the mechanical strength of all overhead line components of existing line including engineering calculations to enable re-rating of existing line using PLS CADD/Tower.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Senior Design Engineer, Rohas-Euco Industries BHD (January 2006 - 2007)

• I was responsible for design and estimation of overhead transmission line towers, poles, telecommunications towers and substation structures. Responsibilities covered were load calculations, design/detailing checks, material take-off, solve erection problems, and design/drawing approval from client/consultant.

• I was mentor and provided the guidance and training to junior engineers for overhead line support structures design/detailing and to develop in-house norms for detail design.

• I checked and verified the design of four 275kV quadruple circuit towers and guided the team of six detailers, producing the drawings of complete series of 275kV quadruple circuit towers (Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia). I designed the Gantry and supporting structure for 275/132kV Teluk Kalong substation.

• I have undertaken costing of various overhead lines (South East Asia), specifically conceptual design and estimation of 275kV quadruple circuit Monopoles/H poles for Kg Pandan to Ampang East overhead line (TNB).

New Delhi, India: Assistant Manager (Engineering-Design), Tata Power Co Ltd (April December 2005)

• As Assistant Manager my responsibility was design, tendering/weight estimation of lattice transmission towers (up to 400kV double circuit), guiding and supporting the team of detailers and design/drawing approval from client. Other responsibilities were to help project manager, co-ordinate for tower supply and follow up the overhead line project for all engineering activities. In this period I was involved on estimation of various overhead lines (South East Asia).

• I worked as design engineer on 230kV Double Circuit overhead line (Ishurdi-Baghabari line, Bangladesh) and was responsible for detail line design including tower spotting, sag-tension calculation, load calculation, soil classification and checking of tower/foundation design and detailing.

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Design Engineer, Hidada Ltd (July 2000 - 2005)

• In Hidada Ltd my responsibility was design/estimation of transmission towers and poles, material take-off, tower testing, detailing, and drawing checking including guidance of detailing team. Other responsibilities were proto assembly, client inspection, solve site problems, project co-ordination and design/drawing approval from client/consultant. During this period I worked on various overhead line projects of different countries (GCC States/Middle East and Africa-North & East).

• I designed two 380kV double circuit towers (Makkah-Taif line) and attended tower testing in Lecco (SAE-ABB), Italy for one of tower.

• I was a key designer of the design team for the successful bid of 380kV Quadruple circuit Overhead transmission line (Jeddah-North line).

Delhi & Jabalpur, India: Engineer (Senior Officer), SAE (I) India Ltd (Part of ABB) Now RPG Transmission Ltd (May 1988 - 2000)

• I was responsible for the development, detailing, evaluation and checking of drawing of lattice transmission towers, material take-off, proto assembly, client inspection, quality control inspection of overhead line transmission support structures. I worked partially on various domestic and international projects of overhead transmission line up to 800kV.

• In my first job, my duty was to lead the production team of around 50 workers to achieve the set target of production. I was responsible for the production of overhead line transmission support structures.

• At the beginning of my professional career I attended twelve months on job industrial training in an OHL production line.
