Experience Strategic Direction / Leadership ∙ As a member of the Board of Directors and as the company’s Director of Development and Operations, I worked to decrease the time-to-market for our software products as well as improve efficiency of the software installation/training process at our customers’ sites. My goals were 1) to develop and install a System Development Methodology, 2) restructure four separate departments into a set of self-directed work teams, and 3) improve employee morale. I defined a set of cross-functional teams to resolve business process issues for application development, hardware and operating systems, client billing processes and client installation and support. Established measures show the time-to-market cycle was decreased, software releases were more trouble-free, client billing approached 100% accuracy and in a reduced timeframe, and corporate operating profit improved to its highest level in three years. Finally, employee morale improved as well as employee confidence in the company. A critical factor is that I stayed involved in daily activities and support our employees in a positive manner. Currently, as Owner/Realtor of Kamela & Company Realty, I strive to work closely with my other two partners to position our company as one that is respected in the region. Our company enjoys an excellent reputation and is one of the region’s leaders in the sales of vintage and historic homes in our city’s urban and downtown neighborhoods. We ensure our company is involved in the communities in which we do business and supportive of the region’s developing neighborhoods.

Management ∙ Managed the operational units for two companies. Managed Application Development, Research, Client software installation/support/training, Hardware/Operating Systems and Change Management for a software development company that supplies software to municipal governments. Previous position was a Manager for a medium size municipal government Information Technology organization. I was responsible for daily operations of Application Systems Development, two Computer Rooms, Data base administration and Desktop Computing and a large number of consultants. I refocused the organization to be customer-driven but to be considerate of the developmental needs employees as well. A focus on communication across the technical layers and with the customer was the key to the restructure. I successfully directed the technical solution for Y2K, including the implementation of completely new infrastructure from the computer rooms to the desktops of the 3,000 member organization. This infrastructure included replacing/upgrading all applications. I implemented a team environment and worked to develop problem solving skills in the staff as well as providing for employee participation in the operation of the department. Miscellaneous duties included employee reviews, responsibility for a $10M budget, participation in the bid processes and vendor interaction.

Project Management ∙ Managed projects such as installation of Oracle Financials in a client/server environment, installation of SDM, installation of technical Standards and Procedures and miscellaneous applications using MS-Project.

Quality Assurance ∙ Implemented IS Quality Assurance Department for a major business. Implemented employee involvement approach to standards and procedures development. Defined and implemented quality control procedures for the technical staff. Developed library control system. Improved system availability from 74% to 98.9% in two years. Certified QA professional by the Quality Assurance Institute.

Problem-solving ∙ Gather data pertinent to problem situations. Perform analysis to identify root causes. Recommend and implement solutions. Measure results and recommend improvements. This is a process improvement strategy I consistently use to define a problem, identify its root causes and resolve the problem.

Hands-on Technical Skills ∙ Performed requirements analysis, systems design, development and maintenance of application systems. Installed and maintained vendor-supplied solutions. Experienced in banking, manufacturing, advertising, municipal government and software house solution development. Created and implemented new approaches to systems development and project management and recommended tools to support these processes.

Sales ∙ Since being licensed as a REALTOR in July, 2004, I have been awarded the President’s Sales Leadership award from the Ohio Association of Realtors as well as by the Dayton Area Board of Realtors. I have earned accreditation from the Real Estate Buyer’s Agency Council (only 7% of Realtors nationwide hold this distinction). I have earned certification from the Council of Residential Specialists, based on sales, learning and service. This distinction is held by onlye 4% of agents nationwide.
