As a Physical Therapist with 33 years of experience i have worked in many settings including ten years in Pediatrics, ten years + with Geriatrics, 7 years+ in Outpatient, and 4 years as a Home Health Physical Therapist. I am currently a staff level therapist but have many years experience as a Department Head/Director/Center Manager as well.
I believe any successful physical therapy rehabilitation program must address the whole patient, including physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Family inclusion and training especially for pediatrics and geriatrics is a must. Without this 'total being' approach there will be a less than optimal outcome. Further the patient must be encouraged to take on the responsibility for recovery.
