Leadership and Management

 Led a department comprised of five divisions into battle during the start of the Iraqi War, ensuring all their personal needs were attended to prior to departure (such as wills, bills, families, etc). Motivated personnel constantly to perform at their best during this tough extended period of time away from their families which ensured our department always met mission objectives.

 Served as the equal opportunity representative, guiding and training employees both on the policies and their rights. Promoted a fair work environment for all.

 Received no grievances or complaints during my 2.5 year tenure as a division head over 200 employees, even while streamlining the organization. Worked with union president to ensure harmony within the organization and all employee needs or concerns were met and addressed. (Grievances were filed often under previous management.)

Operations

 Managed inventories ranging from $5,000 in stamps to $800,000 in food supplies to well over $10 million in parts for critical weapons systems and helicopters. Including procurement, receipt and issues, loss prevention initiatives, and actual inventories.

 Superb project manager! From an operational standpoint, developed an extensive two-phased plan, which provided for food service operations to continue in two temporary locations while a 65,000 square foot dining hall underwent a $24 million renovation.

 Routinely arranged for transport and delivery of critical repair parts, supplies, and mail to various locations across the globe, meeting our ship upon arrival.

 Managed large scale food service operation with dining hall and kitchen spaces totaling over 130,000 square feet, over 200 employees, and several different functional areas within the operation, including a large catering operation. Streamlined processes and reduced costs. Utilized Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and other programs to develop presentations to promote new ideas or plans, manage financial statements, develop menus, track employee Serve Safe certifications, and supervise food production serving 4000 students at each meal.

 Catered on average 3-4 special events each day with VIPs such as Admirals, Congressmen, Senators, and the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Navy in attendance. Catered events ranging from service for 10 up to more than 4000.

 Managed a Navy Exchange (department store) plus five additional outlets, such as convenience markets, package stores, vending machine operations and a barber shop.

Training

 Served as Afloat Training Director (meaning pertinent to shipboard operations), managed and ensured smooth operations for seven different curriculums which train sailors and naval officers prior to reporting for sea duty. Curriculums include training for entry level positions through senior level positions and position responsibilities include management of all curriculum documentation and instructors.

 Instructed students in two leadership continuums, which are week long courses designed to develop students in leadership skills such as building effective teams, communication and work place interactions at two different leadership levels.

 Trained personnel on policies, changes in policies and top leadership initiatives, and

other items of interest. Trained staff members on navy rights and responsibilities.
