KDMIPE(ONGC Dehradun)

12th Dec. 2011-11th Jan. 2012 Reservoir Characterization (in terms of permeability) for Basal Clastic by using Non-Parametric Regression Analysis and Geostatistical Method ACTIVITIES:-

• Read various books on the Reservoir Characterization (e.g. L.W.LAKE) to predict Permeability, Porosity and Saturation using Non-Parametric analysis.

• Examined various SPE journals, Dutta Gupta journals and magazines to get an overview of the latest development in this field.

EXACT ROLE:-

• Predicted a multi-mineral model based upon Geostatistical inverse modeling of well log data which is best suited for complex reservoirs which contain an appreciable amount of Basal Clastic rock fragments apart from the sand, silt, clay, feldspar, mica etc. In this project a non parametric regression techniques have been used to predict permeability using well logs which is an innovative technique for selection of processing parameters of rock fragments in Mumbai High field of the Mumbai Offshore basin . These parameters have been selected from in-situ log data acquired against the weathered basement section of wells drilled on the crestal part of main field i.e. the source of rock fragments. GRACE and GRIDSTAT-Pro softwares were used for establishing the continuous predicted permeability profiles for individual wells and that have been utilized to generate two and three dimensional spatial variations of permeability to access heterogeneity by application of geostatistics.

OUTCOMES:-

• The results of the study corroborated well with the core data and initial production testing data.

KEY FEATURES:-

• The developed methodology will be helpful in realistic formation evaluation during future exploration and development in Mumbai High field.

ONGC ANKLESHWAR

13th Dec. 2010-31st Dec. 2010

Summer Training

ACTIVITIES:-

• Visited different production installations like GGS, CTF, MPH and desalting plant in Gandhar.

• Gained practical knowledge of the fishing operations, well activation as well as production, transportation & treatment of the crude oil.

EXACT ROLE:-

• Thoroughly understood about the various Surface Operation, Well Services and Drilling Operations and drafted a detailed report on this Summer Training which was submitted to HR Manager Aseem Choudhary (ONGC Ankleshwar Asset)

OUTCOMES:-

• Visit to various drilling, logging, surface, and production sites gave an insight to practical application of the basics learnt.

KEY FEATURES:-

• Learnt about the various operations which are actually done while drilling and production from a well.

• Got an opportunity to see various units like Coil Tubing Unit, Nitrogen Unit and figure out various processes and steps of reservoir modeling and reservoir stimulation.
