IT Director, International Division (2005 to 2009) – Reporting to VP Finance And Controller
Directed international (non USA) new technology deployment, vendor selection & management, project management, server and software consolidation, strategic planning, internal audits & controls, SOX & PCI compliance, policies, procedures, global change control, and governance with an operating and project budget of $8 million with a team of 66 in 4 continents and 9 countries. Reorganized international IT from decentralized to a single-centralized team while improving service, quality, and quantity of tangible and measurable deliverables.

- Shifted IT budget from maintenance expense to strategic capital investments saving $400,000 annual expense.
*** Conducted requirements gathering and vendor selection for integrated retail solution that could be deployed worldwide, compatible with current technology, knowledgebase, and 500+ POS devices available at 280 retail locations outside the US and Canada. Successfully completed green-field pilot in India going live with zero business outages and prepared global rollout plan. All in compliance with PCI, privacy, and other mandates.
*** Successfully integrated multiple POS solutions into back-office ERP allowing for fully automated inventory and financial controls, while providing full visibility into end-end-end supply chain, allowing inventory reduction from 30+ days to 14 days while enhancing process to identify slow movers and overstock.
*** Partnered with senior management in the development of a 5-year IT strategic plan. Implemented first 3 years of plan through replacement or upgrades to current versions of several solutions when ROI supported such changes. Plan was updated to implement Oracle solutions while other sections continued unchanged.

- Standardizing Chart of Accounts. Reduced closing cycle by 3 days. Reduced effort required for internal audits and financial analysis. Consolidated vendors and renegotiated contracts.
- Partnered with global product formulation team establishing standard formulation and Quality Controls, product portability, and integration to USA Health and Environmental standards while having comparable cost and productivity metrics.
- Provided senior management with Business Intelligence tools including dashboards and Sales & Purchasing statistics available next day worldwide.
- Enforced and created Policies and Procedures providing consistency and ensuring legal and company compliance and transparency. Passed annual audits and worked with Internal and External auditors to ensure compliance. Responsible for SOX & PCI (IT) implementations. Implemented software lifecycle practices and procedures.
- Led definition, requirements gathering, vendor selection, and negotiation for a Budgeting and Forecasting Tool centrally hosted and useful for day-to-day operations globally.
- Initiated Global ERP server consolidation of all MFG (by QAD) projected to reduce licenses 15%, disaster recovery from several hours to 3 minutes, and data loss from 24 hours to 5 minutes.
*** Standardized network, telecommunications, servers, personal computers, global vendors, software, and productivity tools resulting in cost savings by leveraging contracts, sharing technical skills regardless of country or time zone, and eliminating incompatible document and data formats.
*** Reduced retail data cycle from up to 5 days to less than 2 minutes for invoicing, real-time for customer account inquiry, and next day for payment processing.
IT Manager, International Division (2003 to 2005) – Reporting to VP Finance And Comptroller
Managed project implementations; hardware, software, and skills inventory; licensing; and provided consulting services to a decentralized international organization in 2 continents and 5 countries with as budget of $500,000.
- Presented and secured approval from autonomous country manager of first integrated international IT plan.
- Provided IT consulting services to Sherwin-Williams Brand licensees in Central & South America assisting with negotiations and software replacement. Recognized by President for project.
- Turned around a faltering ERP (QAD) implementation in Brazil during a 50% staff turnover and a 25% staff reduction. Completed project on budget with a push back date of 1 month. Earned “Achievement Award” from QAD presented by CEO at Global Users Conference. Project scope included implementing Best Practices recommended by PWC& IBM Brazil with a 2 year ROI.
- Relocated all websites to Corporate managed servers and enforced legal, company owned intellectual property, and corporate image standards. Obtained benefits of reduced hacking and ill-intended attacks.

- Managed replacement of the component inventory and assignment system. Project was a 20 month phased implementation in 9 states affecting over 27 million customers during 30 conversion events with 4500 users processing 120,000 orders per day. Managed budget of $35.6 million including internal team and 3 main external vendors.
- Other duties included: Change Control Board overseeing 1 million changes per year with fail rate under 0.1%; legacy interface replacement with MBDB standard ($4.7 million budget); RAD for VoIP Telephony project ($430,000 budget);. Voice Messaging enhancement ( $830,000 budget); and Data-warehouse for Internet traffic management ($1 million budget).
- Received BellSouth’s Core Services Award 7/01 VoIP on time budget and scope completion of a RAD project, Comsys’ A3 – 2Q01 and on-the-spot-light 10/02 for consist positive feedback and progress as-planned for $35.6M project.
