MY PHYLOSOPHIC PROFILE AS A SOCIAL WORKER/MEDICAID COORDINATOR

The driven force behind my purpose in life is always to try to make a difference in someone’s life. I enjoy helping my friends, even my older siblings to see their potentiality and to acknowledge their strength in time of needs. To me, that is the best quality that someone can have to achieve their goals.

I spent eleven years working with children with special needs in the public school system. I have seen it all; from wheelchairs to what the system calls site 7, which means the most difficult adolescents there are, with different upbringings and experiences in their lives. It takes a motherhood mentality, someone with a natural understanding of differences, an open minded type of human beings to deal with all types of behaviors in children as a result of what they ‘ve been through in life. Yet these wonderful creatures are just victims of society with the hope that someone can make a difference in their lives.

I also see the wonderful transformation in these children’s lives, when they feel secure enough to trust someone, that they have never thought in a million years would love them unconditionally. Someone to work with them, nurture them, feed them, clean them, nourish them with physical foods as well as emotional attention. I have seen wheelchair students come out of their weaknesses and walk with canes, students that society or even their parents just give up on them, because they don’t know how to handle their situation. They were able to build strength and courage and drastically changed into independency.

It became evident for me that my purpose in life was not in the classroom, where I could not do really what I would like to do. So I decided to have my graduate experiences in social work. It has been a blessing for me as well as my family to be out there, exploring and experiencing how others live. It is awesome to see clients with disabilities working as normal people, making a living for themselves. It is so rewarding to make them see, what they could not see for themselves. It feels so good to sit back and examine self and say: “ yes I did it, my clients are happy and I am happy”. What a joy to know that it is not by my strength or my power, but by the grace, love, compassion, understanding, and power of Our Great Creator, whom only is able to inspire us to bring change, and to make life better for ourselves and for others.

That is exactly what I can bring to your organization, a sense of peace, character, knowledge and ability to create a positive environment for the growth of your institution. I am able to maintain a professional attitude, and promote respect using a humble approach to communicate to others, and be mindful of their feelings. And most of all, I am able to validate other’s opinions leading to a healthier and united teamwork where all of us must learn to know and persevere with a win win spirit.

Synergy is not just teamwork or cooperation, it is a creative teamwork explaining that something new is created that was not there before. I am so glad that I am not where I was yesterday, for every second is a learning experience for me to live the primary laws of love with the people that I serve, and encourage others to obedience, leading to the primary laws of life.

Life is worth living when understanding is at place whether work, family or self. I look forward to make a big difference in your organization as I am allowed to learn, and to develop skills and trainings for the development of your institution, as well as the community at large.

Sincerely yours,

Germaine Boulin, MSW/MSC
