Oversee the daily infrastructure performance of the University’s data and voice network to include infrastructure support duties in the following areas: server management, LAN/WAN management, video network services, messaging services, and disaster-recovery planning and management. Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of the University’s data and voice network. Perform complex troubleshooting of routing and switching platforms while maintaining technical expertise in all areas of infrastructure support. Propose solutions to management to ensure all technical requirements are based on current and future needs and will optimize cost savings. Draft appropriate infrastructure support documentation including operational instructions, configuration information, change logs, and any other necessary documentation. Mentor other VSU technical staff and provide leadership on complex technical challenges.

• Assisted with project to install Kronos automated time clocks in all VSU office buildings. Responsible to make sure Kronos clocks were installed properly, by the vendor, and then to program clocks for operation. Clocks will be used by all Faculty personnel and Hourly student workers to document their work hours.

• Inherited project to coordinate installation, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting of AxisTV Channel Players in all office buildings, Student Commons, Engineering and Business Schools, and dining facilities for the University. Responsible for daily monitoring, maintenance, repair, configuration, reconfiguration, and upgrades for VSU AxisTV display systems. These systems are used to display critical VSU messages, display weather information, and emergency information if needed.

• Supervised project to refresh all data closets within the University’s Network Infrastructure. Surveyed all data closets creating spreadsheet to record existing rack mounted equipment, fiber connections, network cabling, switches, patch panels, power, etc., created Visio drawings of installed equipment, and took photos to document existing conditions. Replaced all switches with Juniper switches and re-cabled all data connections, created new spreadsheets with new data, created new Visio drawings and took new photos of refreshed data closets. Supervised the installation of wireless access points in all University dormitory buildings to allow students to remotely access the University’s network.

The routers are configured for a connection to a MPLS infrastructure using EIGRP along with utilizing a VWIC to provide voice over a PRI in all locations. This design allows for load balancing, VoIP quality-of-service, and allows all servers to incorporate NIC Teaming to provide 99.99% up time.

• Upgraded and reconfigured the Corporate Internet Firewall from Cisco PIX to Cisco ASA. The firewall uses EIGRP as the routing protocol and is connected directly to the core switch.

• Replaced Frame Relay with Point-to-point T-1 circuits which greatly enhanced our bandwidth speed, reduced communication errors, and improved connections between Corporate Office and the Branch locations.

• Create detailed project plans with well-defined tasks, milestones, client sign-offs, test cycles, and specifications, which serve to communicate project progress to senior management.

• Outsourced E-Mail protection to Message Labs which diminished the amount of SPAM and Viruses attempting to

enter the network by 75%.

• Spearheaded project to upgrade from Intertel AXXESS PBX to Cisco Call Manager 6.0 with Unity Messaging.
