Developed polyester (PHA), PLA, PBAT, PBSA based biopolymers for packaging, food grade film, thermoforming sheets, and injection molding products. Conducting raw materials and formulation product development work based on polymer blends and composite principles. Develop new production process methods based on their application and formulation of production. Strong polymer compounding and extrusion experience, including film/sheet, blow molding, and blown film applications with good understanding of the formulation, material science and equipment involved.

B.R&D Manager, Verdant Wood Technologies, Inc., 4191 Grandview Road, Ferndale, WA 98248 (08/09~12/10)

Directing in overall R&D activities involving chemical development of melamine based fire retardant for wood pressure treatment and specialty coating materials on wooden products. Newly developed products include intumescent and cementitious fire retardant coating for wooden and steel based substrates by utilizing metal oxide and phosphate chemistry to achieve thermal insulation and fire resistance (ASTM E84 30 min burn test).

C.Senior Polymer Engineer, SunPower Corporation, 3939 N. First Street, San Jose, CA 95134 (07/08~05/09)

Responsible for selection and development of polymeric encapsulant and lamination materials for solar module applications. Technical skills include reliability test method development, module efficiency validation in acceleration and outdoor weathering conditions. Interactions with outside vendors/suppliers to define product specifications and cost/performance assessment. Support manufacturing team to ensure quality and productivity.

D.Senior Polymer Engineer. CertainTeed Corporation, Exterior Building Products R&D Group (Roofing/Siding/Decking), 1400 Union Meeting Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422 (07/04 ~ 06/08)

Experienced in PVC, TPO, polyolefin based roofing, siding, and decking product development involving compounding, extrusion, injection molding production operations. Technical skills and accomplishment: (a) Acrylic based cap-stock materials for extrusion and coating onto siding sheets, window profile, decking, fence, and roofing surface to provide long term weathering resistance and improved mechanical properties. (b) Formulation development with improved fire retardant property and deep draw thermoforming characteristics. (c) Wood and glass fiber vinyl polymer foamed composites for improved mildew resistance and improved mechanical properties. (d) Glass fiber compound/composite for roofing and siding insulation, reinforcement applications.

E.Senior Scientist-Product Development. Rohm and Haas Company, Dept. of Plastics Additives Research and Applications, 727 Norristown Rd., Spring House, PA (01/00~06/04)

Experienced in formulation and additives R&D for vinyl film/sheet, cable/wire, window profile and siding products involving single and twin screw extrusion/co-extrusion applications. Strong background in compounding, processing, application and testing of thermoplastic/composites foam/non-foam materials. Skilled in analytical techniques including thermal (TGA, DSC, TMA)and rheology (capillary and Brabender type) characterization, etc. Major project accomplishment:

(a)Development of high/low gloss control additive and impact modifier system for window

profile and siding extrusion applications. (b) Developed high efficiency acrylic impact modifier to improve Izod, Charpy, and drop dart impact strength, and (c) Development of rheology modifier, including lubricant package system, for high output PVC window profile and siding extrusion applications.

F.Product Development Engineer. Klockner Pentaplast of America, Inc., Gordonsville, VA(8/97~12/99)

Formulation and compounding research and development for rigid PVC and PETG film/sheet extrusion and calendaring (including bi-axially oriented shrinkage and laminated film). Responsible for the selection of raw material/additives and interaction with vendors to define product processing requirements and establish raw material as well as finished product specifications. Conduct analytical, thermal, and rheology testing and plant trial evaluation. Provide technical support to manufacturing team to achieve consistent quality and improved production efficiency. Major project accomplishment: (a) Development of anti-static PET film/sheet to achieve required permanent volume resistivity and clarity, (b) Development of tin stabilizer system to achieve stable high output rate for PVC film/sheet calendering production.

G. Postdoctoral Research Associate, Elf AtoChem-CNRS, Vernaison/Lyon, France (07/95~07/97)

Conduct industrial research in PVC structure/property relationships to develop heat distortion

additives for high temperature end-use applications. Develop molecular theories and design

experiments to examine the phase behaviors of PVC blends. Characterization of processed

material using rheological and thermal analytical methods to evaluate the effects of blending

composition, molecular weight, and molecular properties on miscibility/dispersion of additive in

PVC. Evaluate the overall effects of additives on polymer processing and product end-use performance. A proprietary high heat distortion additive was developed for hot water PVC pipe applications based on poly(methyl methacrylate) and PVC blend.
