Objective:
Meeting the needs of diverse learners drove the theme of my work at Vanderbilt, cumulating in my thesis: “Multicultural Mathematics: What are Practical Methods for Incorporating Diverse Understandings of Measurement in the Contemporary Elementary Classroom?”. I believe that diverse learners are a wealth of knowledge but that they are not given the opportunity to contribute in typical classrooms. My previous classroom experiences reflect diverse populations, but the same goal: to draw from students' rich funds of cultural capital throughout the learning process in order to create a meaningful and equitable education for all students.
