Centered Maintenance (RCM) on Ground Support Systems (GSS) in a complex
environment. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and repair experience of
systems, structures and equipment that result in meeting even tight
operational deadlines. Operate and maintain Allen Bradley Programmable Logic
Controls (PLC). Supervise and coach a team of technicians, handling complex
problem analysis, making decisive decisions on key issues. Proficiently use
wide range of test equipment for maintenance. Ensure strict compliance with
NASA, safety and quality standards and practices.
Work effectively in a diverse, team environment with multi-disciplined
internal and external customers. Train and mentor new hires and serve as
technical advisor to Field Technicians. Passed Homeland security background
check.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
UNITED SPACE ALLIANCE, KSC, FL
2002 - Present
System Engineer III
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot and operate complex electrical/mechanical PLC
systems that supports shuttle launch and shuttle operations at the launch
pad.
* Troubleshot the OWP system to determine the root cause of failure for the
PLC devicenet compact I/O block and limit switches, which resulted in
repairing the system and preventing future anomalies.
* Written and revised streamlined RCM procedures for shuttle launch pad
support equipment, based on FMEA, which resulted in mission critical
milestones being met during launch operations.
* Instructed Electrical Technicians on proper Preventative Maintenance (PM)
procedure to ensure compliance with NASA requirements and OSHA and NFPA
standards.
* Mentored 3 electrical engineering co-ops for 6 terms to train them on USA
systems, procedures and safety/quality standards, which resulted in full time
job offers.
* Created standardized procedures, using Maximo, for electrical lockout
tagout for various systems, which resulted in a reduction of 1 hour of
engineering time per Corrective Maintenance (CM) work order.
* Complied with company budgetary guidelines when purchasing parts and
materials to repair, maintain and improve electromechanical systems.
* Supervised and provided technical guidance for up to 6 Field Technicians
during troubleshooting resolving complex technical issues, which expedited
repairs and ensured system or equipment s proper functionality.
* Collaborated with Design Engineering on the modifications to the HMI
electrical controls for the Rotating Service Structure (RSS), generating more
detailed feedback for predictive maintenance.
* Prevented a project delay by proficiently using company drawings and
manufacture?s manuals to perform repairs to the Orbiter Weather Protection
(OWP).
* Coordinated with schedulers, planners, pad leaders, and managers to ensure
PM completion during scheduled timeframe.
* Served as Acting Manager for 34-person team during Manager s absence,
ensuring smooth, ongoing departmental operations. Prioritized, assigned and
monitored team assignments.
* Directly contributed to achievement of launch schedule by ensuring
understanding and clear communication with management, NASA, and co-workers
on the status of systems.
* Received individual and team recognition by NASA for meeting contractual
commitments by supporting space shuttle operations safely and meeting major
milestones.
* Contributing member of 6-person Lean Six Sigma team that conducted a
project, which analyzed and recommended improvements to the process of
obtaining waste water measurements that would reduce man hours by
approximately 45 minutes and provide real-time data feedback.
* Operated and maintained Compact Logix PLCs that controlled QTY 8 DC 15 hp
motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) on a redundant system that
displayed data feedback to a panelview Human Machine Interface (HMI).
* Verified proper installation of equipment by performing operational checks
on systems after completing modifications.
* Created a safe work environment when in close proximity to multimillion
dollar flight hardware to protect both personnel and property.
THE BOEING COMPANY, KSC, FL
2001 - 2002
Engineer/Scientist I
Worked with GE Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controllers to design Human
Machine Interface (HMI). Redesigned the electrical system on Ground Support
Equipment (GSE) for space station hardware using electrical schematics.
