ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Regulations and certifications regarding human factors according to the Federal
Aviation Agency (FAA) (Oct 2010)
• Prepared a research paper demonstrating the life vest design on passengers’ airplane and the way that design was accomplished and certified by the FAA engineers and members.
Design a controller for ball and beam system (Apr 2010)
• Worked with three classmates and designed a controller for a ball and beam system to control the position of the ball by the positioning of a DC motor
• Designed two control loops: internal to control the position of the DC motor and external to get the position of the ball
• Conceptualized a method using Matlab Simulink and worked with real time systems
• Used two kind of controllers: PID and LQR
Microprocessor controlled Pin Ball game (Apr 2010)
• Implemented an electrical circuit and an assembly language code to control a two players game
• Used MPLAB IDE software to program the MPLAB ICE 2000 emulator in order to emulate the PIC18F4431 microprocessor.
• Programming and implementing two IR sensors to detect the ball after it passes the target.
• Programmed a LCD to display the score.
Design customization of a wheel chair and stretcher assembly (Aug 2009)
• Designed customization of wheel chair and stretcher assembly. All parts are drawn and assembled together using CATIA software
• Implemented parametric design methodology so that the size of the whole wheel chair can be modified at one place by using one excel sheet named as master sheet in order to fit people of different ages, needs and sizes
Design of an autopilot for F-16 airplane (Dec 2009)
• Derived all non-linear equations of lateral and longitudinal motion
• Performed linearization of all equations of motion to build Simulink model
• Used PID controller theory to design aircraft autopilot
• Presented the result of the stability of motion with respect to the angles.
Robot Design and Modeling (Feb 2009)
• Collaborated with two classmates to design and build a model for a robot which could catch objects and follow path
• Used a PID controller to control servo motors
• Used the computer vision to get the feedback of the position of the robot
• Conceptualized a method using c/c ++
