Responsible for day to day management of laboratory, projects, and personnel. Defined scopes of work, interacted with clients, controlled project costs, met monthly billing requirements, and followed up on over due invoices. Checked data against QC requirements, and sent reports to DEP. Helped coordinate the merging of existing laboratory staff and assets with larger competitor acquired by purchase.

Hired to develop and expand an environmental testing program and client base. Responsible for marketing, evaluating new procedures, purchase of new instrumentation, supervision of technical personnel, management of environmental projects, and quality control, Implemented the laboratory QC and Safety Plan, and monitored the handling of hazardous materials. Major project work included drinking water analysis for various Florida municipalities, sampling and analysis for landfill sites, wastewater and industrial waste monitoring in Jacksonville, FL., wastewater monitoring for Dade County, Florida; and NPDES monitoring throughout Florida. Prepared reports for compliance to QA/QC and regulatory requirements.
Staff Chemist/Water Chemistry Group Leader, Environmental Science & Engineering, Inc., Gainesville, FL 1977-1984.
Responsibilities included supervision of professional and technician-level laboratory personnel involved in the analysis of soil, sludge, hazardous waste, ground waters and surface waters for metals and other inorganic constituents. Responsibilities also included the design and supervision of analytical experiments to determine maximum holding times for specific inorganic parameters. Managed projects with such clients as USACE, EPA, Florida Power Corporation, Tampa Electric Company, and Lake Lanier.
Managed projects for EPA super fund sites in various SIC categories: Printing and Publishing, Gum and Wood, Pulp and Paper and others.
In addition to managing projects, served as a chemist in conjunction with the record search team, which was part of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contract. This included the inspection of various Army installations. The inspections included interviewing staff, and auditing records, in order to determine the previous use and disposal of hazardous chemicals. Information from the interviews was compiled into a final report.
