Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. Gurgaon, India

Lab Assistant - Infectious Disease Division, Department of Microbiology Feb 2007 – Dec 2008

Project: Development of new antibiotic RBx 1425 and analyzing its effect on 70S ribosomes

The project was to develop a better antibiotic for clinical use than Telithromycin. The RBx 1425 (a Ranbaxy Product developed in this project) had a better binding site with 70s ribosomes than Telithromycin.

Tasks Performed:

1) MRE 600 Escherichia coli (E.coli) cells were cultured and purified by centrifuge process.

2) Isolated 70S ribosomes from MRE 600 E.coli cells.

3) Performed spectrophotometric analysis to estimate the yield of 70S ribosome.

4) Performed inhibition test on telithromycin and RBx 1425.

5) Conducted an analysis, which showed that RBx 1425 shared common binding site with erythromycin.

6) Analyzed the correlation between 70S ribosome and telithromycin, RBx 1425.

Project: Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry

1) Combines the physical separation capabilities of liquid chromatography (HPLC) with the mass analysis capabilities of mass spectrometry.

2) Detection and potential identification of chemicals in the presence of other chemicals (in a complex mixture.

3) Documented the procedure and results using Microsoft word and Microsoft excel.

Siemens chemical and pharmaceutical company Gurgaon, India

Intern - Department of Microbiology June 2006 – Aug 2006

Project: Agarose gel electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE techniques for separating, identifying, and purifying 0.5 to 25 kb DNA fragments.

Tasks Performed:

1) Prepared a gel with an agarose concentration and loaded the DNA fragments into the sample wells.

2) Performed optimal separation of DNA fragments according to size by electrophoresis

3) Performed visualization of the gel using ultraviolet light and staining.

4) Documented the procedure and results using Microsoft word and Microsoft excel.

3) Documented the procedure and results using Microsoft word and Microsoft excel.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Graduate Research Assistant Newark, New Jersey

Department of Biomedical Engineering Aug 2010 –Dec 2011

Worked on a project entitled, “Theoretical framework for predicting joint reaction and ground reaction forces in a dynamic pendulum tree model of human motion.” In this project, Lagrangian dynamics and the method of superfluous coordinates are applied to find ground and joint reaction forces on the human body modeled as a general branched 3-D pendulum tree system with arbitrary segments and arbitrary distributed point masses. A theoretical framework is established for predicting these constraint forces during human motion and consequently their effects on dynamics, dynamic stability, energy efficiency and the potential of these forces to produce joint injury and/or pain.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Graduate Teaching Assistant Newark, New Jersey

Department of Biomedical Engineering Jan 2010 – Dec 2010
