Reported to the Vice President of Engineering. Led team of nine managers, with over 100 indirect reports who led the design, development, and modernization of seven vehicle platforms and their derivatives. Analyzed and improved departmental systems, processes and tools, resulting in increased productivity and more efficient resource utilization.
Led initiative to implement enterprise level software upgrade (PLM, CAD, and 10+ other software titles) which yielded projected 5 year savings of over $18 million.
Led engineering organization through first-time ISO certification and subsequent recertification, with the most recent surveillance audit yielding zero findings.
General Dynamics Land Systems - Woodbridge, VA 2000 – March 2010
$250 million division of General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). Defense contractor for United States Marine Corps (USMC) and United States Navy (USN).
Manager / Program Manager 2007 – March 2010
Held positions with varying technical and program management responsibilities on the development program for the USMC’s Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). Responsible for matrixed management of business units, which included engineers, cost account managers, financial analysts, schedule analysts, project engineering managers, and program analysts.
Responsible for three largest development subcontracts on program, which ultimately had an overall value greater than $250 million.
Successfully led Powertrain team through a customer-lead series of component and sub-system level Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), ultimately allowing the $20+ billion dollar program to progress.
Successfully passed all financial audits, both internal and led by DCMA/DCAA, leading to certification of GDAMS’ financial system, and allowing them to continue to work cost-plus development contracts.
