• Manage Purchasing Department with responsibility for the material needs of six branch offices across three states.

• Collaborating extensively with vendors, trucking companies, and warehousing personnel to coordinate the cost-effective and timely expediting of material.

• Solicit bids, secure written and telephone quotations from vendors, analyze bids, and perform value verse cost analysis. Selected products and vendors consistent with existing policies and procedures.

• Monitor orders and contracts for compliance and performance; recommend cancellation of orders and contracts for non-compliance or non-performance.

• Identifying the need for, and following through on inventory replenishment for all branches.

• Calculating price breakdowns, discounts, and freight charges prior to generating and processing purchase orders; following up with credits and resolution of invoicing discrepancies.

Materials Manager/ Equipment Specialist (facility closed in base closure)

• Ensured timely delivery of materials and components through consistent communication and follow-up with vendors and in house manufacturing departments.

• Managed material store room with over 5,000 line items to support aircraft rework and overhaul.

• Purchased materials within the guidelines of FAR/DFAR with regard to material acquisition and contracts

• Liaised with various manufacturing departments to ensure required materials was in place when needed to complete scheduled work assignments.

• Managed material department kitting team in support of various aircraft upgrade programs.

• Monitored inventory control to ensure required material was on hand to reduce inventory cost.

• Former member of the NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing).

Naval Aviation Depot, U.S Navy Norfolk, VA - 1980 - 1985

Aircraft Mechanic (competitively promoted to material department)

• Completed four year exhaustive aircraft mechanic apprenticeship sponsored by the Department of the Navy.

• Worked on aircraft production line at the depot level. Removed components from aircraft and routed them to outlining feeder shops for specific repairs.

• Overhauled, inspected, tested major hydraulic components and returned them to production control.

• Was assigned as relief supervisor in number shops in which I was assigned.

• Assigned to various feeder shops during four years of training. Shops that I trained in but not limited to included, hydraulic, landing gear, engine overhaul, propeller shop, NDI type inspections, ejection seat overhaul, wing repair and overhaul, ground operations and flight test.

• While at Naval Aviation Deport I was a flight engineer in VR-56 Naval Reserve on C-9B.

• During my time at Naval Aviation Deport I earned my Airframe and Powerplant certificate as well as earning my commercial pilot’s license single-multi engine, Inst rated and Certified Flight Instructor.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics – Embry Riddle Aeronautical University - GPA of 3.84 May 1992
