SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Leading multi-pronged revenue growth drives. Ryerson had made all possible cost cuts, but needed to boost revenue as well. Assisted integrated team of financial specialists and sales force in retargeting company products and establishing more vigorous sales initiatives. Boosted revenue by $6M.

Restoring earnings leadership in underperforming regions. Ryerson’s Northeast Region exceeded its cost budget. Led financial, operational and sales team in achieving aggressive new benchmarks. Consolidated operations and immediately cut regional service center spending $700K, with another $1.5M saved within one year.

Automation of monthly close process. Fisher Scientific had a fifteen day close process. Automated and balanced financials in Excel and uploaded result to Hyperion. Cut monthly close process down to five days.

Strengthening cost minimization and capacity utilization. Identified reasons for underutilized capacity and uncontrolled costs upon joining Ryerson. Introduced accurate cost tracking and eliminated waste.

Boosting productivity through consolidation. Integrated three Ryerson plants generating $20M in cumulative sales revenue. Saved $2M annually through unification of unnecessarily duplicated functions.

Identifying key drivers to maximize efficiencies. Identified key drivers at Ryerson locations, both financial and operational, to develop “best in class” benchmarking. Benchmarking resulted in $2M in savings.

Senior Financial Analyst, Wexford Health Sources, 2005 to 2006. Oversaw General Ledger conversion and all financial reporting. Performed all cost and analytical accounting functions, as well as general ledger entries. Responsible for pricing issue variances and margin ratio mixes. Coordinated customer relations and overall logistics.

Financial Analyst, Fisher Scientific, Shared Services, 2001-2004. Performed duties of acting controller, including administration of $33 million budget for IT department. (Performed all controllers’ activities for a six month period). Automated closing procedures, including balance sheets and consolidation statements.
