1993 - Present
Senior Instructor-Computer, Electronics and Telecommunications Technology, Responsible for the delivery of the A.S.C.E.T.T. program and degree. Taught all courses and laboratories in the electronics curriculum and many in the IT, networking and computer curriculums. Named Herzing University Instructor of the Year in 1996 and 2002; Annual Faculty Scholarship Award 2007 and Annual Faculty Service Award 2008 and 2010.
1986 - 1992
Assistant Department Head for Electronics and Senior Instructor - National Education Center - Homewood, Alabama. Taught all courses and labs in the electronics curriculum from DC to Industrial. Taught computer hardware, operating systems and programming and all associated labs. Acted as the senior department resource person. Won a number of “Instructor of the Quarter” awards and was selected by the student body as the college’s “Most Caring Employee of the Year” 1991.
1984 - 1986
Electronics Technician - U.S. Steel Corp. (USS), Fairfield, Alabama. Was responsible for all types of electrical and electronic repair, troubleshooting, modification and installation from changing light bulbs to PLC system programming on both GE and Modicon PLC systems. Preformed various types of millwright work such as hydraulics repair, etc. in this position. This was at the company’s state-of-the-art seamless-pipe mill.
1981 - 1984
Electronics Instructor and Admissions Representative - National Education Center, Homewood, Alabama. Responsible for teaching basic and advanced electronics courses. Assisted other instructors in creating lesson plans and worked in curriculum development for the entire electronics program. As an admissions representative, ranked in the top 20% for dollar-amount enrollments during the entire period in the Southeastern region (17 colleges total) and selected “Newcomer with the Highest Production Average.”
1979 - 1981
Electronic Instrumentation and Control Technician - U.S. Steel Corp. (USS), Fairfield, Alabama. Worked for the Instrumentation and Control Department. Responsible for the programming, installation, troubleshooting, and repair for all types of industrial electronics, from pneumatic valve positioners to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). This was at the company’s Q-BOP furnace department.
1975 - 1979
Administrative Assistant to Night Coordinator/Dean and Instructor - Bessemer State Technical College - Bessemer, Alabama. Started as assistant to Night Coordinator supporting the college’s night programs which had 40 instructors and 750 students. Had complete managerial responsibility for off-campus extension centers for six months. During last two years, designed the curriculum, wrote the textbook, and taught the course, (Basic Theory for Electricians), in addition to teaching mathematics classes.
1972 - 1974
Navigation - Communications Maintenance Controller and Radar Technician - U.S. Air Force. One of a number of officers and sergeants responsible for the maintenance, logistics and tracking of operations at the largest Air Force maintenance facility on the East Coast. Systems included radio, radar, computer, navigational aids, crypto, and other communications systems. Honorable Discharge with rank of Sergeant.
