Production: From three foundries of total monthly production of 500 T having machining facilities to supply fully machined and assembled valves for Chemical, Hydro and Nuclear applications having induction melting furnaces, Magnasoft software to simulate solidification predictions of liquid steel using Solidworks generated casting models.
Added Responsibilities: To increase production to 700 T/ Month in two years; Address quality problems to reduce RT and MT repairs; Reduce casting defects occurring after machining by stream lining and standardizing production techniques and putting in place appropriate QA systems.
TEMA STEEL COMPANY LTD, TEMA, GHANA Feb’02 – Dec2010

Production: Address challenges and bottle necks in achieving production targets of 200 T/day in EAF/LRF, 30T/day in Foundry Induction furnaces, 80 T/day in forging plant. Recruited to realign and lead technical group in managing productivity, quality and product & process development. Designed and implemented performance planning processes and procedures (LRF, TMT). Supervised and developed teams for Rolling, Foundry & forging plant; coordinated with external consultant to support engineering added needs for design and development support.
• Selected Achievements
• Engineered modernization of Steel Melting Shop with 20T EAF and LRF with matching 2 strand Continuous Casting Plant; Introduced TMT (Thermo Mechanical Treatment) of rolled bars for the first time in West Africa, for value addition.
• Execute tooling, pass design, quality control and product development of rolled products from 8mm to 32mm rod sizes.
• Provide QC support with spectrometer, mechanical testing lab and microstructure studies etc.
• Increased foundry sales from $0.5 Million to 12 Million in 4 years by effective product substitution (cast balls against forged balls) & new liner development as import substitution.
• Developed higher wear resistant cast steel ball grade to match the forged steel ball grades for Mining Industries.
• Conceived and commissioned a fully automated 20,000 T/Annum capacity, Forging Project to manufacture steel grinding balls for gold mines without consultants. Directed team and delivered $0.5 million in cost saving for 2010 as value add/value engineering (VA/VE) projects to achieve cost reduction.
• Increased customer confidence by meeting buyer needs and tailoring accelerated test methods to drop balls from a height to simulate field application; and adopting special Spark Erosion Technique methods for preparation of internal hardness testing of balls.
• Developed new steel bar grade round billets for forging steel balls successfully, by adopting technologies from OEMK (Russia) after visiting OEMK and Bao Steel (China).
• Achieved 8% cost reduction in power consumption, scrap selection and improved operations.
