PLANT MANAGER – ADA Carbon Solutions LLC, Red River Plant, Coushatta, LA 2009 – Present
Direct all aspects of a150 Million lb/year Activated Carbon Plant with an integrated waste heat recovery boiler and 25 MW steam turbine generator, a green field startup operation. Developed the employee screening and hiring processes, recruited personnel for key plant positions, lead the development of Safety and Quality Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Training. Oversaw the startup and debugging of the plant. Responsible for Safety, Environmental, Quality, Production, Purchasing, Accounting, Logistics and P&L performance for the plant. Developed capital management process for the company. Developed monthly plant cost reports, KPI’s and performance metrics for the plant including variance analysis on operating costs vs. budget.
PLANT MANAGER – Chemical Lime Company, Montevallo Plant, Calera, AL 2006 – 2009
Directed all aspects of 700,000 ton/year Lime Plant (86 employees and $64 million in annual sales) including maintenance, production, laboratory and stores. Responsible for Safety, Environmental, Quality, Production and P&L performance for the plant. Oversaw plant capital project development and implementation. Managed the planning and execution of the annual kiln maintenance outages. Prepared monthly variance analysis on operating costs vs. budget.
• Improved kiln reliability from 90% to 96% within one year.
• Implemented a limestone grinding project producing 175,000 tons/year, generating $5 million in annual sales.

Oversaw plant capital project development and implementation. Coordinated the implementation of Operational Excellence at the Alabaster Plant. Managed the planning and execution of the annual kiln maintenance outages.
• Improved kiln reliability from 88% to 94% within 2 years.

CAPITAL EXPENDITURES MANAGER – Chemical Lime Company, Fort Worth, TX 2002 – 2003
Provided Financial Analysis functions for the company (1,100 employees and $450 million in annual sales) through the development of the Capital Expenditure Plan, monthly financial reporting and ad hoc studies. Provided economic analysis for Capital projects, including ROI, discounted payback and scenario analysis. Prepared presentations for the senior management team including annual budget meetings. Provided monthly financial analysis and reporting including income, operating costs and variance analysis by plant.

Provided Business Planning functions for the entire Chemical Division (2,000 employees and $1.2 billion in annual sales) through the supervision of 4 Business Analysts. Initiated economic studies for capital project justification, acquisitions and divestitures. Prepared scenario analysis for various business cases in order to optimize chemical financial performance. Provided business intelligence concerning competitors, suppliers and the overall industry. Prepared presentations for the chemical leadership team including Board of Directors Meetings.
• Implemented a 2-year rolling forecast for the monthly income, capital and cash flow process.
• Developed a demand model for worldwide titanium dioxide consumption.
• Established a streamlined budget process through integration with the monthly forecast.
PLANT MANAGER - Kerr-McGee Chemical LLC, Electrolytic Plant, Hamilton, MS 1998 – 2001
Directed all aspects of Electrolytic Plant (200 employees and $100 million in annual sales) including maintenance, production, and support services for both the Manganese and the Sodium Chlorate Plants. Experienced no lost-time accidents and no government reportable environmental incidents during my tenure.
• Instituted a cost control strategy that reduced sodium chlorate production costs by $4 million/year.
• Negotiated a new power contract saving $2 million/year versus the previous contract.
• Obtained ISO-14001 Environmental certification for the Electrolytic Facility (first K-M plant to receive accreditation).
MANAGER, PLANT TECHNICAL SERVICES - Kerr-McGee Chemical LLC, Electrolytic Plant, Hamilton, MS 1996 – 1998
Directed the technical efforts of the Electrolytic Plant through the supervision of process engineering and the quality control lab.
• Designed and commissioned $3 million project to recover sodium chlorate fines that increased production capacity by 15,000 tons/year and income by $6 million/year.
• Developed and installed a capital project to burn hydrogen reducing fuel costs by over $1 million/year.
• Commissioned a $15 million project to expand Sodium Chlorate capacity by 30,000 tons/year.
• Coordinated the development of the Risk Management Plan (RMP) for the Electrolytic Plant.
SUPERINTENDENT, PLANT TECHNICAL SERVICES - Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation, Electrolytic Plant, Hamilton, MS 1991 - 1996
Provided technical support to both the Manganese Plant and the Sodium Chlorate Plant through the supervision of 4 process engineers and a process technician.
• Reduced chlorate anode failure costs by over $2 million/year.
• Implemented an ammonium sulfide recycle project which saved $200,000/yr in process chemical costs.
• Coordinated the start up of a $50 million project expanding sodium chlorate capacity by 60,000 tons/year.
• Instituted the compliance plan for OSHA's Process Safety Management (PSM) guidelines.
• Coordinated ISO-9002 registration for the Electrolytic Plant.
SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER - Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation, Pigment Plant, Hamilton, MS 1989 - 1991
Provided technical support for all areas of the Pigment Plant. Assisted in the start up of a synthetic rutile recovery plant. Supervised process technician responsible for all testing in the pigment pilot plant. Coordinated production trials in the Finishing Area in the development of new grades of TiO2. Assisted Marketing Department with customer service projects.
• Designed a TiCl4 condensing column cooler in the Chlorination Unit.
• Managed a $2.8 million dust control project in the Finishing Unit.
