10-15 week contract to Reduce cost by Redesigning and converting to Ansi standards, an Exsisting Handling System made in Germany using Solidworks and smarteam PDM System

12/08-05/09 American Science & Engineering—Billerica, Ma

Brought on board to redesign and cut cost in a Russian designed HTP (high thru Portal) Automated X-ray system used to scan trailer tractors for Explosives and drugs hidden inside. Consisted of Structual steel weldments, 2-housing units, cross-member and an upright. Solidworks 2008/ Smarteam PDM system

R & D Group, Initially hired to design a 3-tank Self contain acid bath unit, afterwards I worked on New product development as well as Fixturing for Filters, also assisted Manufacturing with various cost cutting retooling of exsisting machines and Fixturing to improve processes. Solidworks 2008

New product testing equipment design and cost reduction for manufacturing of Actuators, Sensor vibration reducer and motion sensors, also provided designs for testing products.

1995-2000 American Superconductor Corp. ---Westborough, MA

Responsibilities include designing an enclosure and support system for a high powered current lead with assembly tooling and a vacuum tight cryogenic system. Other design projects include winding, potting and test fixtures for manufacturing. I also designed a support structure and all bus work for an 8 Tesla Magnet for the navy.

After getting promoted to Equipment Designer, one of my major tasks was to retool manufacturing for standardized winding and testing equipment. I also designed a wire guide system for a rolling mill including new reels to accommodate long length wires, reducing cost, weight and flatness problems. Interacted with outside vendors, . All work completed on AutoCAD R13/R14 and Solid works 98.

Electrical and mechanical design of enclosures, instrumentation layouts and support structures, framing and schematics for luggage and freight scanners. Also assembly fixturing and procedures. All design and drafting was done on AutoCAD R12 using military specifications and strict drafting standards.

I was hired to set up the new drafting dept. standards and to convert drawings from microstation to AutoCAD. Cost estimations on special products per customer’s specifications depending on material finishes, spring loads, quantities and delivery dates.
