• Negotiated less burdensome terms in the MON MACT rule to eliminate the obligations to install inappropriate control technology and conduct unreasonable record keeping and reporting. These improvements to the MON MACT rule were obtained through negotiation with EPA in partnership with the American Chemistry Council.
• Coordinated construction, start-up, and successful demonstration of a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer to control VOC/HAP emissions that achieves 95 percent heat recovery thereby reducing the demand for auxiliary fuel. This project required overcoming technical challenges associated with batch mode operation and explosion prevention needs.
• Implemented Dakota program to create an organized system for evaluating regulatory applicability and compliance. This project involved scoping and evaluating the work flow process of the individuals involved in meeting the environmental, health, and safety obligations for the site.
Corporate: Assisted Cytec sites in AL, LA, MI, NY, and WV with MACT compliance strategy, New Source Review and Title V permitting, emissions inventory development and maintenance, and air dispersion modeling, review new air regulations/guidance and disseminated pertinent information to corporate and plant sites, response preparation in defense of agency enforcement actions, participation in EPA stakeholder/American Chemistry Council meetings and represent Cytec interests.
