• Leadership – Part of a management team that reduced the Break Even point from 125% of capacity to 65% in three years, while the Average Selling Price of our product was declining.
• Cash Flow – Collaborated with purchasing to reduce the inventory of raw materials, spares and consumables from $14.2M to $9.0M in one year.
• Oversaw the financial requirements of Cincinnati plant expansion project. Project included $200M in acquisition value of equipment transferred from other locations and $30M of new building and equipment. This was a 2 1/2 year project, which doubled plant capacity and improved product quality and process capability.

Other responsibilities include managing capital expenditures, standard product costing, cost reduction programs, annual audit and institutional control.

Plant Controller – Cincinnati Division 2002 to 8/2011 Led a professional team of 5 direct reports responsible for month close, operating reports, annual budget, implementing and modifying standard accounting processes, inventory controls, forecasting and analysis for a Business Unit with net revenues of approximately $150M annually at capacity. I also managed capital planning, accounts payable, working capital improvement, external auditing and security oversight.
• Worked with the Ohio Department of Development and local County officials on an economic development incentive package which was instrumental in the decision to consolidate and relocate manufacturing operations from Salem, Oregon to the Cincinnati SUMCO facility. The package included an Enterprise Zone Property Tax Abatement, Cash Grant, Low Interest Loan financing, Job Creations Tax Credit, Rate subsidy on Water & Sewer consumption and Training Cost Reimbursement.
• A member of the SAP Implementation Team tasked with upgrading four plants and Corporate Office from JD Edwards to SAP. Involved with the implementation of the following modules: General Ledger, Costing, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Material Management, Accounts Receivable, Sales & Distribution, Fixed Assets and Plant Maintenance.
• Incorporated A/P Process improvements resulting in an annual savings of $60K.
• Reduced the Month End close process from 5 to 3 Business Days through focused objectives and teamwork.
• Responsible for proper treatment of the Cincinnati Plant Closure, under FAS144 – Accounting for the Impairment or Disposal of Long-Lived Assets and FAS 146 – Accounting for Costs Associated with Exit of Disposal Activities.
Cost Accounting Manager 1995 to 2002 Managed the cost accounting, budgeting, and inventory control functions. Upgraded the cost accounting system. Responsible for overseeing financial requirements during plant reorganization.
• Integral member of a restructure team responsible for incorporating “lean manufacturing” concepts to improve process work flow including the elimination of old equipment which had become too costly to maintain. Presented financial impact to corporate leadership in Tokyo Japan in order to obtain project approval. Results included a reduction in manufacturing capacity and eliminated non-profitable business resulting in a 20% reduction in head count, WIP inventory reductions and manufacturing lead time improvements.
• Implemented Activity Based Costing concepts to match the production process, which was used to identify profit margins by product.
Corporate Credit & Collections Manager - Responsible for credit processing and the cash collection of $300 million in annual sales. Managed the payroll department. Project leader for the implementation of JD Edwards ERP software at two manufacturing sites and Corp. Office.
