• Overview: I was the principal engineer for the start-up art.com (started as allposters.com) and architected, built, and owned most of the systems that helped the company grow from $10 million company to a $250 million company over 8 years and three acquisitions. The systems I built 4-8 years ago are still in production and have scaled effortlessly with growth of the company.
• Roles: I had various roles in the company including:
+ Software and Systems Architecture: Built application framework in VB6 and later in .net. Set up coding standards and application standards. Built application framework related and business logic related class libraries for developer use. Helped in the selection of ERP solution (vendor and System Integrator) for the company; currently working on the architecture of inserting and integrating ERP (Oracle EBS) into the current IT portfolio.
+ Product Manager, Business Analyst: Studied, designed, and improved processes in the warehouse, purchasing, finance departments; designed products, wrote proposals, and built systems around them. Owned and managed software products and processes through their full life cycle. Was the key person in the company responsible for certain aspects of financial modeling and implementation, such as revenue recognition, inventory costing (FIFO) etc. I also played an important role in the business strategies, such as those for search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), e-Commerce strategy for Europe and Japanese markets, fraud detection, and affiliate marketing.
