Professional design: a drinking water plant (5,000m3/d),a wastewater treatment plant (60,000 m3/d), a drinking water supply network (300L/capital/d), sewage network (300L/capital/d) and pumping stations
TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
EIT in progress ( October 2011)
Water and wastewater treatment techniques: filtration, aggregation, flocculation, sedimentation; aerobic activated sludge technique, etc
Analytical equipments: electric pH meter, analytical balance, microscope, high temperature Muffle furnace; GC/MS, UV-Vis , AA, HPLC
Water quality analysis: pH, VSS, COD, ammonia, phosphorus, etc
Knowledge on solid and hazardous waste, air pollution control and permitting, land fill and water resources, compliance audits, etc
MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; AutoCAD; Sigma Plot; Matlab
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Wastewater Treatment Plant of Hefei Economic District, Hefei, China
Assistant Engineer Jan 2009-June 2009
Provided maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of facilities (bar screens, secondary clarifier, aeration tank, etc) to treat approximately 50,000 tons of wastewater per day
Monitored each facility in the Central Control Room using plant specific software
Analyzed water quality: COD, ammonia, phosphorus, VSS, etc; observed indicator microorganisms, especially planktons
Assisted the supervisor to report weekly to Environmental Protection Bureau of Hefei
Bureau of Water Resources of Wuwei County, Wuwei, China
Assistant Engineer June –July 2007
Designed a complete underground drinking water supply network for Jiangyuan Drinking Water Plant (covering a population of 25,037 and water demand of 2230 m3/d) using AutoCAD
Conducted hydraulic calculation of the network( head loss, flow rates, piping calculation etc) using specific programs in MS Excel
Evaluated existing drinking water supply network based on hydraulic calculations and provided solutions for optimization (e.g. upgrade the aging pipes that no longer meet water supply demands)
ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
Study of Granular Aerobic Sludge (GAS) treating industrial wastewater, Hefei, China
Assistant Project Manager Jan 2009-June 2009
Operated and maintained GAS reactor to treat industrial wastewater in the region
Cultivated granular aerobic sludge from ordinary activated sludge, and explored factors that helped formation of GAC. VSS was successfully increased from 3,000mg/L to 5,000mg/L.
Removal efficiency of ammonia, COD and phosphorus was increased from 70% to approximately 95% after GAC was finally formed
