SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Served as a member on a development team for complex application software that was part of a Real-Time Embedded Flight Display System. Also, served as a member on the development team for an in-house designed high-level test tool.
• Participated in the successful completion of two FAA certifications for the Integrated Flight Control and Display System, which allowed production to begin on the product.
• Owned four software packages which included maintenance and debugging of existing requirements, code, and high-level tests.
• Created new requirements, software, and high-level tests for new features within the packages, which made the product more user-friendly.
• Designed a new software package that displayed aircraft engine data in digital and scale formats on the Flight Display, which gave pilots the ability to constantly view critical engine data.
• Promoted to a senior software engineer within 2 years.
• For each requirement, software, or test case update, documented all changes through Serena TeamTrack.
• Applied requirement, design, and test case standards and checklists for all work, which adhered to RTCA DO-178B FAA avionics software standards.
• Participated in requirement, design, code, and test case formal peer reviews for all new features as well as all extensive updates to existing features.
• Designed software using OpenGL for displaying, manipulating, and moving textures on Flight Display screen, which includes using pixel-space as well as percentage coordinates.
• Tested all updated software on the Flight Display hardware, which included loading the software onto the hardware and interfacing with the hardware, which ensured correct operation of software.
• Created and updated high-level test cases for requirement and software changes.
• Worked with the Software Quality Assurance representatives during audits of requirements and software.
• Performed a Change Impact Analysis for each software update to determine the scope of the update.
• Executed and debugged the high-level test cases using an in-house test tool.
• Formally executed high-level test cases for FAA certification following an exact process.
• Recorded all results and data from formal test case executions in proper locations for review by the FAA.
• During first year, worked on a team of four that developed an in-house test tool application, which included design of the user-interface, scripting language, and compiler for the test tool.
• Implemented new features, worked on making existing features more efficient, and fixed bugs reported by users of the test tool.
• Interfaced with overseas contractor that used the tool to address any issues they experienced, which led to increased efficiency of test case creation.
• Created User’s Manual and Tool Operational Requirements for the tool, which aided test engineers in developing better test scripts.
• Involved in the FAA certification of the test tool, which was essential for completing FAA certification of the Integrated Flight Display System.
