Manages the administration of the company’s employee benefits programs, including health and wellness, income protection, retirement, and related programs. Investigates, develops, and designs benefit plans with respect to program enhancements and cost control. Ensures compliance with federal and state legal and tax requirements. Prepares and files required reports.

Principal responsibilities include:

Benchmark and evaluate benefits to determine competitive posture; develop recommendations and solutions to complex issues for review by senior management.

Facilitate inputs from various stakeholders on design and effectiveness of various benefits, including evaluation and recommendations for labor contract negotiations.

Coordinate the selection, management and performance review of benefit consultants, brokers, vendors, etc.

Ensure the compliance with all applicable legal requirements as well as managing plan audits.

Collaborate with legal and tax to track and understand new legislation and regulations to ensure plans remain compliant.

Participate in the strategy, planning and design changes in response to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also known as Health Care Reform.

Manage the communications, training and guidance on benefits compliance requirements for administration including preparation and distribution of SARs, SPDs and plan documents.

Monitor, control and trend analysis of benefit costs in conjunction with finance and treasury.

Serve as the expert health & welfare and retirement plan benefits advisor to resolve formal claims and lawsuits.

Provide benefits planning analytical and technical support for the Corporate Employee Benefits department. Responsible for planning, development, implementation, administration and maintenance of all benefit programs and policies for U.S. and Puerto Rico operations.

Principal responsibilities included:

Maintain financial evaluation and reporting of all employee insurance, disability, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including development of plan budgets, monitor plan utilization and expenses.

Manage all daily activities of the corporate benefit programs including problem resolution and coordinating annual enrollment.

Coordinate and oversee benefit plan workshops/seminars and health fairs.

Responsible for plan design and communication as well as to ensure plans are compliant with new and existing regulations such as FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, etc.

Responsible for government reporting, including the preparation of 5500s and PBGC filings as required by statute.

Provide required participant data to 401(k) recordkeeper/trustee for semi-annual non-discrimination testing, review results and take necessary actions should the Plan be out of compliance.

Coordinate with programmer to set up and test interfaces to benefit plan carriers, i.e., health care enrollments, 401(k) enrollments and deductions.

Associate Human Resources Representative

Administered the Westinghouse Pension and Savings programs for the elevator business unit of approximately 1,500 employees. Responsibility included management of the HRIS.

Assisted with the implementation of Schindler benefit programs upon divestiture from Westinghouse Electric Corporation

Responsibility for Human Resources duties and employee relations for the Randolph, NJ manufacturing site. Provided benefits consulting, pension calculations and COBRA packages to employees affected by the location closedown of the Randolph facility.
