February 2012-September 2012:

General Manager for Anamaya Resort and Retreat Center, Montezuma, CR.

At Anamaya Resort I have been responsible for implementing all structural bases. I have implemented Employee files, Employee handbooks, the Anamaya employee/managers/owners structural hierarchy and departmentalized the entire hotel. Upon arrival there was little to no structure, procedures or enforced regulations. I work between 10 and 14 hrs per day coordinating all aspects of the hotel and every facet of every department, delegating duties to the department heads and following up on their tasks throughout each day and week. I have frequent meetings with our In-House Accountant regarding the financials of payroll and the hotel operation as a whole. I am also the HR Director and do all the recruiting, hiring and letting go of employees. I work closely with the Maintenance Manager regarding all ongoing construction and maintenance projects in and around the hotel and the entire hotel property. I meet with the owners once a week to keep them informed of the day to day operations of the hotel. Finally I work very closely with my F&B Manager, Reservations Manager, Spa Manager, House Keeping Managers, and the Reception Dept. regarding all aspects of guest satisfaction and speak with each guest personally to ensure their needs are being met. 100% over 100% guest satisfaction has and always will be my staffs' goal, with the correct ongoing training and correct guidance from management.

To all concerned parties,

Joey Teja has been in my employ for almost two years. During this time he was instrumental in the development and implementation of launching a new nightclub in Holland, Michigan. His duties included coordinating construction of a two venue 8,000 square foot facility; providing the infrastructure to support the business (.i.e. telephone and utility service, permits, licenses and vendor contracts). He conducted employee interviews, made selections and fully trained over 100 people. Decorating choices and furnishings were selected by Joey as well as their competitive bidding and purchase.

Prior to our opening he designed and presented a full marketing plan including logos, advertisements and branding. He staffed and stocked the building and ran a successful 4 day opening sequence and gala celebration.

On an ongoing basis Joey supervised 45 employees, oversaw cash flow and payroll and adjusted the operation to run at its highest possible efficiency and profitability.

During his tenure as General Manager Joey made painstaking efforts to pay incredible attention to the important details of day-to-day operations. While his contemporaries would “lax” into a state of complacency, Joey was relentless in his pursuit of keeping a watchful eye on the extras and nuances that kept our business “fresh” and on the “cutting edge” of a very competitive industry.

Joey was so selfless in his work performance, he offered to step out of his well paying job in order to save the company the cost of his salary. I originally refused his offer, but later agreed, as I had learned that he had many exciting opportunities available to enhance his career.

Joey will be missed by our company, but I am proud of my decision to hire him to be the fundamental driver in the creation and operation of my successful nightclub.
