Consultant – Full time – Business and Legal Entity Controller. Streamlined monthly and annual closing and financial reporting procedures. Worked independently and in groups to eliminate aged issues and install controls to avoid future occurrences pertaining to books and records. A Primary Finance person on SAP Conversion Project.

Business and Product Control Specialist

• Implemented multiple general ledger system conversions including SAP and other DB systems as lead finance person and to initiate control procedures as both manager and user.

Instinet was a publicly traded company, with over $1 billion in assets and was responsible for the largest trading volume in the brokerage community. Approximate size ranged from 200 to 2000 employees.

Finance/Accounting

• Created and managed company’s Finance/Accounting department and associated financial activities.

• Maintained and prepared the general ledger, including month end closing routines, client billing, accounts payable, payroll and accrual processes. Accounted for the brokerage activities for multiple entities.

• Prepared semi annual financial statements sent to thousands of customers.

This includes revenue and expense tracking, firm balancing, tax reporting, interest calculating etc.

• Project Manager for correspondent billing system installation. Initiated, developed and ran project to install standalone-billing system to charge correspondents. Coordinated system to also track shares, tickets, executions, sec fees and miscellaneous pass thru related charges for reviewing third party invoices.

• Performed multiple customer service functions, helping retail customers, correspondent customers and internal brokers/traders solve problems, create reports, prepare commission analysis and ticket costs.

• Performed strategic analysis and troubleshooting, consistently working on corporate driven initiatives, providing analysis and input to help solve problems and handle assorted issues. This included identifying numerous costs saving opportunities resulting in millions of dollars.

• Consolidated multiple entities and reported overall financials and comments on variances and performance to ultimate Public parent company and subsequent new Public parent company.

Audit/Treasury/Management

• Managed internal and external financial audits, including annual CPA audit and NASD audit. Received consecutive no findings on NASD Finance/Regulatory audits.

• Established supervisory controls and procedures used by Finance and Clearing Departments.

• Performed operational control reviews and audits; addressing accuracies, efficiencies and procedures. This also included audits of numerous accounting systems for all general ledgers and sub ledgers.

• Established numerous types of bank accounts, managed banking relationships and helped negotiate better banking rates resulting in cost savings over 25%.
