I am a licensed general building contractor in Oregon and California, a licensed Realtor in California, and hold Arcata Development Licenses A, B, C36, C39, HAZ and HIC. I possess a firm understanding of cost and schedule controls and am an expert in inspiring high-level performance from professional and subcontracted staff.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Securing contracts with commercial clients. Tasked with generating contracts for company. Fostered relations with architects, general contractor, vendors and subcontractors. Grew company, built solid reputation and secured long lasting business relationships.
Developing unique construction plans. Fisheries dock needed to replace wood beams and needed to maintain operations during construction. Designed and built dock assemblies off site. Redesigned dock to last longer and created unique construction plan. Completed project early and fisheries dock operated throughout process.
Creating financing plans. Kentucky Fried Chicken mandates that franchisees update stores to new corporate image resulting in complete demolition and rebuilding of exterior. Developed construction and financing plans for individual franchisers. Rebuilt several KFC restaurants that remained open throughout process.
Reducing costs. Many areas within the company were spending money unnecessarily. Started an efficiency study that solicited ideas from company employees. Evaluated all vendor and supply contracts. Renegotiated contracts, saving the company $100K annually.
Identifying lucrative opportunities. Manufacturer’s siding recall left thousands of homeowners with defective products. Identified owner’s and initiated campaign to assist in warranty recovery and residing. Increased profits 30% and grew business.
Completing historic renovations. Challenged to renovate historic building needing historically accurate windows. Located and hired custom window builder. Created construction plan that minimally disturbed businesses and renters and maintained historic significance of building.

President / General Contractor, Arcata Development, 1990 to present. Promoted to manage and lead customer relations, job scope definition and plan changes. Directed negotiations, schedules and contract management. Prepared estimates, cost analysis, presentations, schedules and contracts for construction company. Managed multi-site locations and million dollar budgets. Managed P&L and team of 20.
Property Manager, Arcata Development. Managed commercial and residential properties. Led contract management, leasing, maintenance, acquisitions and disposition of properties. Oversaw 100 units including commercial offices, restaurants, apartment complexes, land and single family residences.
