RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Mississippi State University-Department of Mechanical Engineering
Graduate Research Assistant, Jan. 2009-Dec. 2011
Conducted smart material systems and morphing structures research. Investigated the use of bi-stable carbon fiber reinforced polymeric composites with macro fiber composite actuators for piezoelectric actuation in morphing structures and wing design. Designed projects for manufacturing process and fabrication, experimentation, and morphing tests to evaluate and validate analytical and numerical models. Built piezoelectric morphing structures to analyze and test concepts and results.
Technologies
• SolidWorks/Matlab/MathCAD •LabView Data Acquisition •COMSOL finite element analysis program •Microsoft Office programs •LaTex documentation system • Testing standards and methods
Mississippi State University-Department of Industrial Engineering
Undergraduate Research Assistant, March 2008- Nov. 2008
Assisted PhD students with tests and surveys on communication systems and the study of how students react, process, and learn different e-mailing systems. Data extrapolation and statistical analysis implemented for research. Conducted tests and created hypothesis concerning the learning curves of the students. Multiple variables studied to compare and predict the learning curves with suggested modifications to emailing systems for a more user-friendly interface.
Technologies
•Web-based data acquisition •Microsoft Office programs
Mississippi State University-Department of Mechanical Engineering
Undergraduate Research Assistant, Oct. 2007-Nov. 2008
Performed stress analysis and tests with titanium specimens to determine the molecular makeup and material properties. Tensile tests conducted to evaluate titanium specimens and compare strengths of various types of titanium. A Scanning Electron Microscope used for Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) pattern testing and evaluation as part of the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium with NASA.
