CAREER SUMMARY - Recent experience as lab technician

Technician, researcher, chemist , product engineer and senior certification engineer; 4 technical degrees, OSHA training and heavy expertise in respirator, CAD, and hazard sensing technologies. Invented & developed products; promoted 3 times; trained technicians.

ENGINEERING - PRODUCT, SR PRODUCT & SR REGULATORY/CERTIFICATION ENGINEER

Program and lead engineer for testing and regulatory approval of 37 new air-purifying respirators.

Design & product release of respirator harnesses, powered APR, back-frames, cases,

cylinder valves, hoses, cylinder clasp, shroud, belt, face-pieces, adapters & respirator filters.

Green Belt, 6-sigma, DFSS; projects in DOE, Gage R&R and stage gate release of new respirators

I trained colleagues in CAD and in regulatory submissions to NIOSH.

I investigated Brazilian and EN standards to grow global markets; submitted SCBA, PAPR & APR.

I led gas, vapor and aerosol filtration tests; led fume hood, scrubber and test setup maintenance.

I am self- & class-taught in manual drafting, 2D & 3D CAD, and a self-taught Unix CAD administrator.

Skilled in conventional and stage gate product release using Cullinet, Mapics and Baan.

I prepared capital expense requisitions, POs, ECNs, test procedures and drawing packages.

Led and conducted Instron testing, MIL-STD 810 E & F, abrasion, weathering, shock, & ozone tests.

Test engineer for filter test stands, respirators, and vacuum & pneumatic test systems,

electromechanical test enclosures; sensor test stands, fabrication wire-wrap and solder boards.

Ran fire safety inspections including hydraulics; reported issues to customer & internal management.

CHEMISTRY - QC, ENVIRONMENTAL & METALS LAB TECH; R&D, SENSOR & SR CHEMIST

Sampled railcars and tanks; performed QC testing using densimeter, GC, stock color

solutions and KF titrator; performed ASTM D tests (2106, 2108, 2109, 2111, 3401, 3701)

Invented and developed multiple gas sensors and filters for industrial and respiratory protection.

Trained 4 technicians in self-completion of gas testing, spectroscopic and wet chemistry techniques.

Directed and engineered lab relocations, layouts, operations, scheduling & training.

Led and conducted R&D of catalytic sensor, colorimetric sensors, respirator filters,

portable and fixed gas detector testing, and field service of fixed gas detectors.

Led test engineering for methods development in IR and FTIR and in building fluid delivery systems.

Created PHA, JSA and test procedures for plant documentation; incorporated automatic shut-off into

test systems for redundant and improved safety; successfully trained operators in procedures.

I conducted literature & experimental research for my masters’ project and academic grant research.

I am experienced in analytical, metals, quality process control and environmental chemistries.

Instrumentation used includes FTIR, IR, GFAA, IAA, ICP, Leco CHN, solid & liquid aerosol testers,

quartz crystal & moisture microbalances, sieving, and electrochemical sensors.

Sensing expertise with electrical, solid state, PID, flow, thermal, pressure & RH sensors.

Competency with basic analyzer service; operation, calibration, and maintenance of fluid test

systems; and data acquisition using Labview & DMM.
