PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Birmingham, Alabama 2009

Masters of Electrical Engineering (Control Systems)

Project for the Masters degree: A transfer function approach for some advance Control Engineering topics

A transfer function approach is an alternative method to the state space approach for Control Systems design. The advantage of this approach is that it provides common framework for the modern control techniques to design a controller. In this project, lab tutorials were prepared for graduate students to demonstrate implementation of the transfer function approach for some advanced control systems topics: PID controller, pole placement controller, internal model control, anti windup controller, Smith predictor, minimum variance controller, model predictive control, and linear quadratic Gaussian control. Complex Matlab codes and Simulink models are prepared to demonstrate this transfer function approach. These tutorials will save time required by the students for extensive book reading and coding complex algorithm.
