Went offshore to conduct a fishing job for PVD service company as Slickline Supervisor as rig had lost three working days and had to move onto next location.

Initially had a meeting with the company man on board decided on a plan of action and to suet his requirements I decided to plug the well below the SSSV at 3.813” X Nipple, close the SSSV conduct an in-flow test then set a back pressure valve in the tubing hanger. Nipple down the BOPs and nipple up the Surface Xmas Tree. We managed to do all this in a very time effective mode then the cantilever deck was pulled back into the stored position and all the Slick line equipment was moved onto the production and I carried out a totally independent fishing job and had the well cleared out before the rig was ready to move, company man was very happy as he could not believe this could have happened so fast and effective.

2005-

Employed by Egis, based in Aberdeen as a Well Service Supervisor. Assigned to Shell Team, working on the Corrib Project, offshore Ireland as company representative supervising all operations from a workover drill ship. This was a five, sub-sea well project to inspect and clean up internal profiles of well bores and conduct sea bed surveys for well head installations and pipe line route tie-ins.

This was conducted in deep water and involved running sub-sea cameras for internal inspections of well bores and the deployment of different types of clean out tools that were designed especially for this operations, all this was monitored and controlled utilizing specialized R.O.V. units and cameras

We had to run all these tools and relevant equipment under full compensation workover rig from a ship mounted workover rig in very heavy swells in the Atlantic Ocean

2002-2004

Employed by Halliburton CPS in Port Gentil Gabon as well services supervisor on contract to Shell Gabon West Africa. Conducted all wellservice operations in two separate oil fields i.e.: Rabi and Gamba.

We conducted many different coil tubing operations including setting sand screens, clean out, fishing PLT’s and setting of bottom hole recovery assembles in horizontal section wells.

We ran five wireline trucks on a daily basis which were responsible for wax cutting of approximately fifteen wells per truck every day, this was a vital part of the operations as the oil produced from this field was extremely heavy and if left for a short period of time would block the well bores and production would come to a complete halt.

We also conducted all standard wireline operations from a specially designated wireline truck this unit was responsible for all standard well interventions including setting of a range of down hole equipment’s , including :a range of plugs of various types , gas lift installation and recovery , running of Metrolog pressure / temperature gauges and final reports of recorded well data’s.

Fishing operations were conducted and supervised by myself and utilized 0.125” wireline and a complete range of Petroline heavy duty fishing equipment, this equipment was also utilized by different company’s in the region as there was from time to time a requirement for heavy duty fishing operations and no other equipment available.

Shell also had ongoing drilling and workover programs in place for reservoir enhancement, Halliburton supplied all completion equipment and services for this and specialist personnel as required.

2000-2002

Based in Port Gentil Gabon West Africa as Wellservices supervisor for Schlumberge.

Was responsible for maintenance of equipment in base and providing services to clients i.e. mainly Slickline operations.

I had to source and locate mainly consultant crews to run and conduct all these services as and when required, I would go on testing jobs as a Schlumberge operator to assist in the running and reporting of daily operations and any logistical requirements involved.

I was also involved with coil tubing department: we had a local staff that were responsible for the maintenance of the equipment when in base and would supervise all maintenance requirements and support as required.

I would go on many different jobs as an operator: fishing, milling of sand & scale bridges, well stimulation etc.

1998-2000

Worked as self employed Wellservices supervisor consulted for many of the major oil companies and service companies worldwide.

I worked in north Africa for Baker S.A. in Libya, on an equal time contract five weeks rotation : this involved welltesting on a daily biases this was conducted from a trailer type, truck mounted unit , and worked for mainly Sirtey the local oil company based in Zelton.

Baker also provided a range of wireline services including: down hole memory gauge data gathering with Panex gauges, a complete range of slickline services and fishing services which I was responsible for.

As and when it would be required, we had to travel very long distances, to conduct services to many different clients, so planning and equipment requirements were vital as many of the locations were very remote.

I was also responsible for another part of the contract involving wellhead maintenance, which involved the use of a special truck mounted units, with the capability to pressure test wellhead components and chart record tests, conduct valve change out’s, setting of back pressure valves for well isolations, maintain and grease all valves on trees and pressure wash and provide all preventive maintenance required, all this was conducted by local crews and reported and logged.

1995-1998

Slumberger based in Doha Qatar as Wellservices/Slickline supervisor contracted to Qatar Gas.

Based in Doha responsible, for all well testing and slickline operational requirements.

Provided welltest and slickline services to Qatar Gas working offshore in the Persian Gulf on the Hikuro-8 and the Hukuro-9 on a high pressure H2s gas field.

This proved to be a very complex project as a lot of very specialist equipment & personnel had to be sourced and implemented to Qatar to run and support this contract.

I was responsible for all aspects of operations regarding personnel, equipment and ops support, well program development and planning.

Transferred to Abu-Dhabi to run all Wellservice operations both onshore and onshore. Also shore based maintenance and logistics.

Ran: Well-testing, coil tubing & Slickline operations to various local and international company’s in Abu-Dhabi.

I was responsible for managing all testing and Slickline equipment in Musafa base and implantation of maintenance schedules and records.

Worked in field as required as Wellservices supervisor looking after all Slickline and testing operations as and where required.

Had to work with ADCO on planning and implementation of work programs and procedures and source most of the consultant staff to suite client’s criteria.

Transferred to Madras India to Start up Slickline contract with Command Petroleum Oil Company.

Based in Madras office as Wellservices Supervisor on contract to C.P.O. this was a new venture for command who had discovered an offshore field close to Rajamundrie north of Madras.

I had to start up the new contract for Slickline services and set up a work camp and base also provides equipment and personal.

Working in CPO. Office in Madras I had to design a plan for the new base, source work force to construct camp and base, this involved a lot of time at the location in Visakhampton to over see and supervise all requirements for CPO.

I had to purchase complete Slickline package including Slickline split section, helli portable 0.108” Slickline unit and pressure control package of lubricators and BOP’s plus all the required crossovers and tooling for this contract.

1992-1995

Self employed Slickline supervisor working in Russia Siberia and CIS countries trained local staff in procedures and all wire line operations.

Initially based in Radoushney western Siberia, I worked for Schlumberge as a Wellservises / Slickline supervisor.

I was working for Occidental Oil Company in a field called Van Yogan seventy miles north of Radoushney.

This was a low pressure field and a lot of the work was involved with work over and completion of wells.

A lot of the work involved, having to swab the wells in as they were low pressure and required swabbing to unload and remove the overbalance to allow the wells to flow naturally , this was a very low cost solution and a very successful alternative to more advanced solutions.

I also did a lot of very remote work in Siberia within in the Artic regions where you were flown to location with your equipment and camp plus your supplies , where you had to cater for yourself, get the job done with what you had and get back to civilization

I have worked all over the CIS. In many different countries including most of the former Soviet states and must say that I really enjoyed it very much.

I lived in Moscow for close on ten years and learned to speak Russian very well.

1986-1992

Occidental Caledonia Scotland: Employed as wire line operator running all operations offshore on Claymore Alpha & Piper Alpha. I was Transferred to Sub Sea Operations: Scapa Field Project to work on semi-submersible rigs for well completions, walkovers etc.

I did a lot of sub-sea work on completions on the Scapa field both on Semi Submersible rigs and also worked on the Stena Seawell Workover and Sub-Sea Intervention ship, utilizing there advanced Sub-Sea lubricator system, this system proved to be very successful and cost effective.

This system was deployed from the moon pool aria in the center of the ship, lowered to the wellhead and connected by guide wires and diver assistance and hydraulic manipulation.

The Vessel had a DPS (Dynamic Poisoning System). And had a full compensation workover derrick to allow the Vessel to work in sea conditions of approximately three meters.

All said this was a very interesting project to have been involved in and gave me a far greater understanding on sub-sea well head equipment and Well Intervention Procedures.

Definitely the most interesting and enjoyable Project I was ever involved in.

1980-1986

Camco. I Joined Camco as Trainee Wireline Operator and worked both on shore and off

Shore in the North Sea Scotland working for many of the major oil companies.

BP. Chevron... Mobil. Shell .Marathon. Amerada Hess. And many more.

I spent three years going thru the ranks from assistant: A. B. C. and became junior operator

After two years, running the jobs under supervision from the chief operators and training in the base I was broken out and allowed to operate all Slickline Services with my own crews.

I became a chief operator after three years and was assigned to work on the Beatrice field in the moray firth sector of the North Sea.

This was a field utilizing submersible pump systems and a lot of workovers were planed and implemented, which gave me a lot of Completion exposure and experience as these well were highly divested and many problems were encountered.

I went on to work for most of the major oil companies working within the north sea, on vast ranges of equipment from all the main manufactures, running every type of Slickline operation from: setting and pulling plugs of all sorts, gas lift operations, pulling & setting of Scsssv, setting insert valves, open & closing SSD’s, Fishing operations and many more to numerous to mention.

The north sea provided the best training ground that I have ever came across in the world and if you can work within this environment you can probably work just about anywhere in the world.

I went to work for Cameo in Egypt in the western desert close to the border of Libya for a period of time on contract to core-lab running completions and running all there Slickline requirements.

I also worked in Rashakear as a wire line supervisor offshore running a variety of slickline services.

We had a designated Slickline crew responsible to me and there job was mainly working for production and drilling operations.

Also to go round the field and clean out lost fish and wire that had been lost in the wells and never recorded this was a very interesting job as you never new what you were going to find and the solutions we had to adopt to recover all the fish, this was very challenging to say the least, but most rewarding.
