• Slashed maintenance costs by second sourcing and buying directly from manufacture
• Documented procedures on field service calls which cut back on future routine (FS) visits
Silicon Microstructures, Milpitas, CA. 5/01- 2/09
Semiconductor Assistant Manager / Equipment Engineer at a MEMS Fab
Rose from Level One Tech to Sr. Equipment Engineer / Assistant Manager in 4.5 years (faster than the industry average) through dedication and determination and the love of what I do. Worked in a class 100/1000 Fab with direct contact with production requirements and engineering issues to meet customer satisfaction of 100% on time delivery and zero product defects.
• Implemented Preventive Maintenance (PM) System. Boosted up time from 79% to 96%
• Drove continuous improvement. Changed vacuum settings and timing and handler modifications of 9 different tools including photolithography, dry etch and sputter equipment. Raised product yield from 75% to 92%
• Second-sourced parts and reverse-engineered quartzware, chucks and handlers. Cut out the middleman vendors including reduction of service visits. Slashed maintenance costs nearly $350,000
• Logged nearly 500 tools, meters and power supplies in Excel. Calibrated all components to TS-16949 standards (Transportation & Safety). Opened new markets (airline and autos)
• Amidst 3 company buyouts and takeovers, led efforts to convert MEMs FAB from 3” to 4”inch and five years later to 6”. Removed legacy tools. Installed new equipment. Set up new facility infrastructure including power, vacuum and Clean Dry Air (CDA). Kept vendor facility service costs to the bare minimum
• Documented routine and preventative maintenance procedures. Cut ramp up time to near zero by Mentoring new technicians on maintenance & troubleshooting skills
• Was a Volunteer for the ERT; (Emergency & Response Team
