OBJECTIVE:
I would like to find a position in drafting and design using my experience with a professional, growing and friendly company that would provide stable employment and career opportunities as a contract or direct hire. I would perform modeling and detail drafting for product support and new product design. I would also be interested in other areas of the engineering field keeping my mind open to learning different types of CAD software and engineering functions if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
I have solid modeling and detail drafting experience with SolidWorks 2010 CAD and Pro Engineer Wildfire 2.0 CAD, including Intralink 3.3 I also have experience with Hewlett Packard ME10 & ME30 CAD. I have 7 years of experience with board drafting using mylar, vellum and sepia reproductions. I am experienced with microsoft office, excel, word and microsoft outlook email. I have experience with sheet metal design, machined parts, aluminum extrusions, forgings/castings, tooling and fixture design, tubular/structural designs for seating and office furniture products, conveyors and custom designed stainless steel cooling equipment for the food industry, stainless steel structural platforms and catwalks for the food industry. I have developed technical illustrated 3D product instruction sheets. I have experience with structuring and modifying bills of materials, hands on testing of prototypes, experienced with most all hand measuring tools. Experience working with outside vendors and suppliers.
EDUCATION:
1980-1982 associate degree industrial drafting technology. I have 75 credit hours with 15 credit hours needed for completion, Lansing Community College.
1979-1980 certificate of drafting, Community Design Center, Lansing Michigan.
1968-1971 high school with emphasis on drafting, Olivet, Michigan.
Total of 28 years of drafting & design experience using pencil & board and computer aided drafting techniques.
EMPLOYMENT:
2010 - CURRENT CAD Designer, JJ Steel, Inc., Battle Creek, Mi. (DIRECT HIRE POSITION)
JJ Steel is a manufacturer of unique large stainless steel industrial cooling tunnels and equipment used by food manufacturing companies. The tunnels are built to house the systems that manufacture ice cream and frozen food products that require temperatures to be kept at a minimum of 60 degrees below zero for packaging. We also design conveyor systems, catwalks and 2 story platforms all made with stainless steel to meet codes required for the food industry. JJ Steel contracts with Tetrapak, Nestles, Mars M&M to name a few. At JJ Steel I design and develop all engineering 3D modeled parts, assemblies and drawings used in the development of our product. I use SOLIDWORKS CAD. Most of the design work is with stainless steel sheet metal. I use Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word and Outlook Email. I maintain and control the drawing data base which includes drawing revision changes, Bills of materials and release to production drawings. I work with the shop closely on all aspects of a design. I maintain all equipment such as printers, plotter and CAD upgrades within the engineering department. I experience little travel time.
2005 - 9/21/2010 CAD Drafter/Designer, Knoll Inc., Kentwood, Mi. (DIRECT HIRE POSITION)
Knoll is a Office Furniture Manufacturer. I performed mechanical drafting and product design support. I have designed many functioning components that are being used in the Knoll Equity & Dividends Panel systems currently. I did most of the specials or RFQs for the Grand Rapids Facility daily. I used ProEngineer Wildfire 2.0 with Windows and ProE/Intralink 3.3. I developed sheet metal, zinc die cast, aluminum extrusions, stampings and plastic parts. I designed FDM plastic prototype parts. I developed panel assemblies, layouts for fit & function of large office furniture assemblies. I developed parts using large family tables for the many different variations. I wrote and submitted ECRs and completed the ECNs for the drawing release. I developed instruction sheets and 3D artwork for the price catalogs in ProE. I am familiar with all file types, DXF, IGES, STL and PDF files to name a few. I Worked with microsoft office, excel, JDE program for bill of material development, familiar with internet, outlook email and FTP Programs. Approximately 75% of my time was spent in ProE modeling, design and detailing of parts and drawings. I experienced little travel time.
2004 - 2005 CAD Drafter/Designer, Details Steelcase, Caledonia, Mi. (CONTRACT POSITION)
Steelcase is a office furniture manufacturer. I performed drafting and design product support. I used ProEngineer Wildfire 2.0 with Intralink 2.0. I used work manager, version 2L for structuring bills of material, developing engineer releases, product search and etc. I developed sheet metal, casting and plastic components. I used case mail (steel case email system) but I am familiar with microsoft outlook. I worked with the team to develop new designs for several existing products lines. Approximately 90% of my time was spent in ProE modeling, design and detailing of drawings. I experienced no travel time.
2002 - 2003 CAD Drafter, Pyramid/Hyteck Design, Albion, Mi. (CONTRACT POSITION)
Pyramid Design was a automotive parts manufacturer. I performed ProEngineer CAD Solid modeling drafting and design of mechanical components and assemblies for the automotive aftermarket and general industry. I designed sheet metal parts of all kinds consisting of 5th wheel hitches, door and hood assemblies and small automotive related parts. I used ProEngineer version 2001 with intralink. I developed technical illustrated instruction sheets consisting of 3D exploded views of asms with ballooned callouts of the parts in ProE. I used all microsoft programs. I designed the jigs and fixtures. I structured the bills of materials. I was responsible for all office and CAD equipment and maintaining CAD back up files. I experienced approximately 10% travel time in this position. I experienced approx. 50% travel time in this position.
1997-2001 CAD Operator/Designer, Eaton Truck Components Div, Galesburg, Mi 49053 (DIRECT HIRE POSITION)
Eaton Truck Components is a transmission drive line design and development center primiarly for medium and heavy duty vehicles. I performed drafting and design support of transmission components under senior engineer supervision utilizing Pro Engineer version 2000i with Intralink and CMS software. I modeled parts, llarge assemblies and detail drawings of heavy duty transmissions for Freightliner, Kenworth and Peterbuilt trucks. I used family tables for fasteners and parts. I worked specifically in the Cost Out Department as a drafter/ designer to reduce manufacturing costs of existing components, assemblies and methods used in manufacturing. I researched existing Eaton components thru ECNs to determine if cost saving changes were feasible. I experienced little travel time.
