Research projects:
• Synthesis of modified Porphyrins (~20-25 steps).
• Synthesis of the Imaging Agent (symmetrical and asymmetrical bis-1,1’-(4-sulfobutyl)-indo-dicarbo(and tricarbo)cyanine) with hexa-ethyleneglycole linkers.
• Synthesis of the Triad as a PDT anticancer agent by the sequential coupling of the Porphyrin with Imaging Agent and Targeting Peptide.
• Design and synthesis of Dendritic Tethers (monothiol and dithiol) for the immobilization of antibodies (5-10 steps).
Achievements:
• Modified Porphyrins and Triad (MW ~ 5,000; ~ 30 steps) has been synthesized, purified and characterized in enough amounts for biological testing on animals (I phase of the clinical trial).
• Dendritic Tethes continue to be synthesizing as custom syntheses on demand (client’s orders).

• Total synthesis of the natural compound Neostemofoline.
• Chelate-controlled Oxa-Michael Addition for construction of the naturally occurred cycles. Synthesis of azepinones, their isomerisation and alkylation.
Achievements:
• 2 articles have been published in a TL about Azepinones and their chemical conversions, including unexpected isomerisation and ring-contraction.

• Development of the catalysts for cross-coupling perfluoroalkylation based on nickel and copper; new ligands synthesis.
• Synthesis and development of conditions for reductive elimination for LL[Ni](Ar)(CF3) complexes.
• Synthesis of new heterocyclic chiral carbene ligands and their copper complexes;
• Synthesis of the paramagnetic LLNi(I)CF3 species as a source of CF3 groups.
Achievements:
• 5 articles have been published, including in a JACS Selected Collection, and in a Organometallics highlighted as the “Most Read” by ACS website (see Publication List for details). Poster presentation on ACS conf.
