Operations Manager, 2006 – May 2009
Developed, monitored and implemented new plant start up for a feed/food processing facility. I was responsible for plant production, plant quality, preventive maintenance, personnel management, and food plant sanitation in two new facilities located on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. This position included the responsibility for direct sales to local farmers.
This position was a dry and wet extrusion process that stabilized rice bran for equine feed and human food supplements. There were also some pelletized products produced.
We were an AIB audited plant along with being subject without notice to audits from customers.

I was responsible for the development of Master Sanitation Programs, SSOP’s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP programs from a “ground up” situation. I also assisted Farmer’s Rice Mill in establishing a presence in the domestic grain market.

- Worked with corporate engineering group to design and start up new processing operations resulting in finished product yield increases of 20% with an estimated net increase in value of $20,000,000 annually
- Developed HACCP and GMP policies that were critical in becoming the first certified supplier of rice to Anheuser Busch Breweries
- Worked with plant maintenance personnel to develop preventive maintenance programs that resulted in 99.5% running time; this represented an increase of 10% in running hours prior to the beginning of the PM program
- Led sanitation efforts that resulted in 5 consecutive years of 95%+ compliance (Superior) ratings from sanitation audits from Silliker Inc.
- Designed and installed rice recovery system that increased net returns by $400,000 annually and improved the quality of rice bran processed
