KEY ILLUSTRATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS
Project and Program Management
• Identified and facilitated 25+ engineering projects for potential US/UK cooperation. $60m has been saved through collaboration, information exchange, joint trials and jointly funded engineering projects.
• Conducted detailed analysis of comparative US and UK capabilities in rotary wing condition based maintenance, supported by the release of widely circulated papers and study workshops. This work has led to international collaboration and data exchange on process and technology, with the potential for significant capability enhancement on a $1Bn+ US defense program.
• Designed and delivered class leading, COTS based, asset and configuration management information system for a UK military helicopter fleet. This provided a 15% reduction in operating costs at less than 10% of typical new MIS procurement costs.
• Successfully planned and led a major fleet management program to return over 100 military helicopters to service, following withdrawal of safety critical components with long replacement lead times. Highest priority business outputs were unaffected.
• Successfully delivered digital mission planning capability to a major military helicopter fleet on time and within budget. Enabled a 30% increase in mission response time.
• Designed and project managed a critical support package for a major new air defense system. Delivery within budget successfully ensured timely operational capability.
Leadership and Change Management
• Successfully led development of new business opportunity which resulted in a $5m contract to license market leading prognostics technology from Europe to a US company, with exclusive rights for the North American market.
• Successfully led change in business practice affecting 5000 U.S. Army staff from a new logistic information system. Produced budgetary savings of 25%, without loss of output.
• Successfully planned and led the transition of 1000+ (UK) Army aircraft engineers to Joint Service Operating Procedures. This enabled a 30% reduction in supply chain and support costs, while maintaining fleet wide airworthiness and operational capability.
• Assumed leadership of an organization earmarked for closure, affecting 130 experienced engineers. Conducted a business review, restructured and rebranded the business and embarked on an aggressive marketing program. Delivered growth in market share while reducing staff numbers by 5% and operating budget by a further 10%.
International Experience in Aerospace and Defense
• Served with NATO forces in Canada, Germany and USA.
• Exchange Officer in US Army Maintenance Battalion, with $20m operating budget.
• Program Manager for US and UK collaboration in helicopter capability development.
• Logistic Information Systems lead for a major UK helicopter program.
• Senior Army engineer in UK Joint Helicopter Command.
