Experience

All experience with Whirlpool Corporation: (Manufacturer of major home appliances) Fort Smith, AR.

Position: Senior / Certified Quality Engineer for Assembly lines: Jan 2010 – present: With an increase in production in Mexico, more organizational downsizing changes are announced (25%). We anticipate plant closure in 2012.

I am now the Senior Quality Engineer for the main assembly line and I work closely with manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues. I am responsible for Quality System Documentation for the entire assembly line along with first pass yield issues and supervising the daily activities of 3 quality technicians. I also manage our inspection department, First Pass Yield database, Bin Limit criteria, and Reliability Lab along with 1st piece approval and repair code database. Quality issues are reviewed with production management daily and I lead a weekly corrective action team to implement quality/process improvements to improve FPY. I recently developed an on line flow test to verify the water tubing system is intact and free of obstructions (for 100% of production) as this problem has shown itself to be an issue in S.I.R. (Service Incident Rate). I routinely write Quality Work Instructions, Control Plans, and calculate Cpk’s to improve process performance, reduce waste and inefficiency. I also work with suppliers and internal engineer on their 8D’s to insure valid corrective action.

Position: Senior Engineer for New Models Scheduling & First Piece Approval - Sept 2009 to Dec 2009:

After management cut the salaried workforce by 33%, they deleted the Safety Engineer position and moved me into this new role. I manage the FPA/PPAP process for all suppliers.

Position: Senior Safety Engineer 2007-August 2009:

I returned to EHS department after six years in manufacturing. In addition to the EHS responsibilities shown below, my department records all safety training for the entire 1000+ workforce. I routinely work with I.E. department using MOST to establish time studies, develop standard work and improve efficiencies of operators via ergonomics and ERGOMOST. I am trained in Ergonomics relative to the design function and the operator’s workstation. I also work closely with the union safety representatives to resolve safety issues and train them on how to perform audits and job hazard assessments. I have strong background in OSHA 29 CFR 1910, LOTO, Powered Industrial Trucks, machine guarding, confined space entry, worker's compensation, MSDS, PPE, hot work permits, evacuation and shelter routes/locations, etc.

Position: Senior Project/Quality Engineer 2001-2006

Responsibilities: Manage Quality system and multiple technicians. Defect investigation and problem solving relative to quality issues. Continuous improvement initiatives and projects focusing on scrap, labor, downtime, repair reduction, first pass yield improvement and material savings. I recently supervised the activities of six departmental engineers and also managed the departmental budget.
