Experience:

July 2008 – Current: Solar Turbines Incorporated (Oil and Gas industry)

Regional Safety Manager for all Solar Field Operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

This position is intensely gas and petroleum focused. It requires working with multiple customers to ensure program effectiveness, personnel safety and incident coordination. Working with HR and IT, I have been able to use my previous experience to accomplish the following in the past couple of years:

• Migrate the safety training system to an online automated system that can generate reports and KPIs.

• Create an authorized level Lockout/Tagout program and Electrical Safety program.

• Certify authorized trainers to deliver safety training

• Create a model for training delivery that reduces overlap of multiple requirements and saves a net $3.6 million annually

• Increase strategic partnerships with external customers to reduce common safety issues in the field (access issues, LOTO, airborne exposures, etc….)

• Database driven Behavior-Based Safety system program to identify common problems and re-focus efforts

• Drive Safety to be integrated into the worker qualification modules or technical training courses

February 1996 – May 2008: Applied Materials Inc.

I held many progressive positions over a 12 year period ending as the Global EHS Manager in a chemically intense environment with 23 fixed sites globally from abatement product manufacturing to heavy chemical stripping operations, as well as field service operations.

1996-1998: Equipment service engineer providing onsite servicing and productivity support

1998-1999: Plasma Chemistry Process Engineer performing systems process support and new process development.

1999-2001: Corporate Safety department developing safety programs, training and field integration programs

2001-2003: Corporate Safety Training Manager overseeing development and implementation of global training initiatives

2003-2004: EHS Manager for Global Field Services operations in 22 countries

2004-2008: Global EHS Manager for Service, Spares, Abatement Manufacturing, Chemical Stripping and Corporate

Acquisitions. Chaired International Committees for global industry standards.

Several skillsets have been accumulated in performing these roles successfully. I am able to operate over a wide range of issues and communication expectations with a high degree of success both from a compliance/safe-work position and what is right for the business. Fostering and building a solid EHS team is the foundation for achieving this.

1984 – 1996 – United States Navy nuclear power program (all advanced engineering operations). 12 years engineering operations and maintenance to include additional duties of Quality Manager, Base Radiological Controls Supervisor, nuclear refueling team, shipyard nuclear repair liaison, Engineering Division Manager, Environmental Release Drills Coordinator, EHS Training, water and soil sampling, emergency medical technician, etc…
