This was my job during college and my safety net during my employment at both of the
following photography jobs.
The proof position was a casual night job. We typed check amounts onto the bottom of the
checks in magnetic ink so the computer could read it and deduct that amount from the
persons checking account. I was in college at the time.
Sam's Studio
(04/01/2006 - 10/28/2006)
Photographer
I was there for two seasons.
Supervisor: Janet/Amanda
Salary: $11.50 per hour
Hours per week: 20 or more
Duties:
The daily routine included loading equipment, setting up equipment and driving to shoots.
I ran shoots from graduations and school pictures to day cares and dance recitals. I
downloaded digital files per event and printed them as well. I printed photos and
transferred the pictures onto merchandise such as shirts, puzzles, key chains, and large
mounted prints. I was a studio photographer here, too. The studio shot Senior portraits.
The studio was very busy with seniors over the summer. It was not unusual for me to work
8 hours with senior portraits alone. I not only took these pictures, I made the templates
for the proof sheets. I also took head shots in the studio, often for realtors and sales
people.
Sam's transitioned from one software to another right when I was hired. All of the templates
used by Sam's Studio were created by me.
Kid Pics Photography
(08/15/2004 - 12/12/2005)
Photographer
The dates of employment are estimates. I was there for two seasons.
Supervisor: Rene, owner
Salary: $7.50 per hour
Hours per week: 20 or more
Duties:
The daily routine included loading equipment , driving to shoot, setting up, keeping track
of names to put onto pictures later. I would run shoots, keep track of memory cards from
all photographers, download images, color correct, size photos, add templates, make templates
for individual pictures, make templates of text, make templates for collages and the like,
send orders to lab for printing. I used photoshop often.
I was offered a lead photographers job but the pay did not increase, just the hours.
There was too much work and not nearly enough pay for me to stay here and leave Bank of
America.
Although I learned and really wanted to work at this job, I could not offer Rene the 24/7
employee he needed and often had to stop working on projects to go work at my other job.
