At IML Inc, I worked on various analyses using GC-MS spectrometry.
Prior to the extraction, all the samples will be entered in to the PREP sheet from Omega LIMS system.
Extractions:
Every extraction contains 5 QC analysis (Quality Control with a MDL, method detection limit). They are method blank (MB), lab control sample (LCS), lab control sample duplicate (LCSD), sample Spike (MS), sample spike duplicate (MSD).
Weiging balance needs to be calibrated prior to soil extractions.
EPA method 3510_D (water extraction using seperatory funnel 500ml/volume)
EPA method 3550_D (Soil extraction using sonication)
Microvial extraction of water:
Halo acetic acids
EDB & DBCP (Dibromoethane and Dibromochloropropane) using 3511 EPA method
EPA method 5035 (soil extractions)
Prior to the analysis, all instruments would be calibrated. Instruments were calibrated every 12 hours.
After extracting the samples, analysed them for DRO (Diesel Range Organics or Hydraulic oils using 8015_D EPA methods on GM-MS/FID)
Analysis of haloacetic acids using 552.1 EPA Method on ECD (Electron Capture Detector)
Analysis of EDB & DBCP (halo alkanes) using 504 EPA method on ECD (Electron Capture Detector). This method was developed.
After the analysis, Data was processed and Data Entry in to the LIMS was the prior step to reporting to the clients.
Preparation of standard solutions, spike solutions, maintaing LOG book for these solutions, entering all the solutions data in to the LIMS system.
Maintaining Good Laboratory Practice, MSDS (Method Safety Data Sheet)
Successfully accomplishing Auditings.
In addition to this, I was involved in a research project from one of our clients, related to organic isolations and characterizations. I ha wriiten a 100 pages paper with manager Tom Patten.
All the extraction and analyses were performed within the client holding times to meet the customer satisfaction.
We have safety meeting every month. I had undergone fire extinguishing training.
SOP procedures were followed and revised during the development of the methods.
I am the happiest person to work on these analytical methods at IML.
