Director of IS Systems Development

Major responsibilities included the management and mentoring of the IS development staff in all of Hayward’s locations. The staff was made up of project leaders, developers, a Lotus Notes administrator, and consultants.

• Hands on Director. Involved in all phases of systems development.

• Responsibilities included the development of a corporate strategic plan, budgeting, budget tracking, developing policies, and developing training plans for staff.

• Responsible for the development of on-line documentation systems and support and project request work-flow systems used by the company to place requests for service to the IS staff.

• Streamlined IS reporting to Finance.

• Worked with Kaizen teams, external business process improvement vendors, and plant management to provide expertise and define requirements for both system and business process improvements.

• Work with Auditors on a yearly basis to provide required information.

• Responsible for leading the ERP implementation in Wuxi China and Lyon France.

• Implemented a warehouse management and transportation management system in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

This process also has the ability to send out notices to vendors for purchase orders that are late or will be late. This system has resulted in major timesaving and allowed Hayward to reduce inventory levels, through faster turnaround times for vended items.

• Improved accuracy of supply chain by providing visibility to in-transit inventory and more accurate reporting on backorders.

• Developed a new process that provides the planning department with the ability to disposition products that will not be produced in time. This process automatically communicates this information between plants in MRP/MPS and to customer service in order/entry, and provides summary statistics over historical data to assist in identifying repetitive production issues.

• Developed a process to recalculate product lead times nightly and communicate this to the sales force via integration to Lotus Notes database, the recalculated lead times are used to date incoming orders.

• Managing a project to implement Synquest supply chain software. This includes full responsibility of managing budgets, users and technical teams throughout the U.S.

• The planning module has been implemented and has resulted in reducing the process to create the master production schedule from 32 days to approximately 2 days.

• The shop floor control and scheduling module has been implemented in two U.S. plants along with many legacy enhancements to compliment the new system.

Reported to the VP of Information Technology, managed a development group responsible for supporting the Logistics, Customer Service, Billing, Sales, and Contracts departments. Member of the Pfizer Supply Chain Steering Committee. As a steering committee member made major improvements to global inventories by defining better processes, measurements, visibility, and redefining a new Distribution network.

• Directed SAP teams for the global implementation of the SAP’s Sales and Distribution module. These responsibilities included directing U.S. and international developers and user teams, gathering global requirements, manage project plans to control scope creep and project timeline. Other SAP responsibilities included developing test plans, documentation, a global training program, and a rollout plan for the implementation of SAP in over 50 U.S. branch offices and 10 international sites. Developed a bolt on module for SAP to simplify the maintenance of contracts and pricing.

• Worked with VP of Distribution to develop requirements for Manugistics deployment and dynamic deployment modules. Developed and implemented AS/400 interface with Manugistics supply chain software, which resulted in improving the company’s supply chain for global visibility, planning, and deployment.

• Provided support for the president of the company as well as other departments on special requests.

• Developed quarterly reward program for the development staff based on cost savings for the company.
