INVESCO PLC - May 2000 till Present

INVESCO PLC (IVZ) is a Large Asset Management company with various types of investment opportunities in domestic and international marketplaces. Houston is the hub for computing needs for this global organization, spread across North America, Europe and AsiaPac.

IT - Global Head (Application Dev) of Performance Risk and Analytics Jan 2006 –Present

Managing a budget of about $8 million. Since taking over this role I have increased efficiency of the IT team and improved quality of the delivered products. This is evident by the yearly client survey, which have an upward trend. In 2010, my teams enjoyed a rating of 4.2/5 scale, unparalleled by any other IT team at Invesco.

I am responsible for looking after all of the needs for this business function across the globe.

Responsibilities include:

In house development and support efforts for our investment performance, risk, analytics and quantitative research department (with clients and IT teams across the globe). In house development includes full lifecycle development of various systems (Including Contribution & Attribution system, Fund Management, business intelligence, decision support systems, Investment Performance, GIPS and investments risk) on various windows and Unix platforms with a mix of proprietary technology. Custom development involving transaction based system with real time pricing feeds and other market data from Bloomberg and Reuters.

Built an order management system interfacing with check free APL for high net worth individuals wealth management as well as working with other OMS like MFTP, CRD, single security master systems CADIS and portfolio accounting systems like Portia and FMC, fund accounting systems fund station and MPOWER.

Leading efforts to build analytics systems interfacing with Factset and many more systems over the course of my tenure in financial services industry. Most of the custom development is large enterprise applications with 200+ end users and was accomplished using .Net 2.0 framework with service-oriented architecture (SOA).

Along with these custom development efforts, I am involved in various other vendor implementation efforts where my team went thru defining requirements, RFP, vendor selection, negotiation and implementation of outsourced solution (Eagle investments systems Pace data warehouse and Performance ).

As a director for these departments I am responsible for directly supervising multiple teams locally and in remote locations in UK, Hong Kong and India involved in development and providing support for various computing needs of business clients. Lead teams engaged in full lifecycle custom application development of various systems (Including Contribution & Attribution system, consolidated executive reporting, business intelligence, decision support systems, and investments risk) on various windows and UNIX platforms with a mix of proprietary technology.

Responsible for various large vendor implementation efforts, in which my team went through defining requirements, RFP, vendor selection, negotiation and implementation of the outsourced solution.

Program Manager: (ITO / BPO for BOT / Global sourcing) June 2006 -Sept 2008

Managed an off-shoring program for various IT development activities as well as back office business process off-shoring ($7M/yr IT Program).

Responsible for:

Business case development for off-shoring.

Manager Consolidation (In Sourcing) PMO March 2003- Dec 2003

In a post-merger environment, lead an effort leading to savings of $1 million over 5 years. I was responsible for consolidating all of the application environments from Northeast and Midwest into Houston, which included major offices in NY, Boston, Louisville and Chicago. Some of these cities have multiple locations. This was a complex undertaking, both from a technical and management perspective. This required periodic updates to executive management of these business units, as well as resolving the technical and process related challenge of merging multiple technical platforms without impacting the ongoing business.

Manager IT (Investments Perf. Risk and Analytics Americas May 2000 -Jan 2006

Responsible for the Investments Performance and Risk function from an IT perspective for North American business partners. This included vendor product implementation and custom development. Job responsibilities were a subset of the Global role as above.

Reynolds & Reynolds Technical Manager Infrastructure Group October 1998 - May 2000

Reynolds is involved in exposing ERAtm data from a multi-value universe database for its automotive dealers, and makes it available in a relational view to be used by various applications including e-business applications.

Responsible for project management and technical architect tasks, including technical design and conversion of a multi value DB to relational views in order to integrate web apps with legacy systems for automotive dealers etc.

Led the design of “on star” registration process via a www enabled application. This increased the efficiency from two weeks to an hour. Provided technical sales & marketing support.

Currently hold a US patent developed during this period. Patent is for a method to exchange of key automotive data between the three bix automotive companies in Detroit.

Claremont Technology Group Inc. Consulting

Manager Conversion and Bridging: Clarety tm June 1996 -September 1998

“Claremont” was building a framework of three-tier client server solutions for the Retirement Industry.

Performed various project management & daily operations tasks to manage the development effort, including team building, planning, executing tasks, measuring and controlling the project. Implemented processes for change management and version control.

Managed a team of business analysts and DBAs. Responsible for requirements gathering via JAD sessions and one-to-one client interviews, including a team of data modelers to develop logical & physical data model for the product.

My team led the effort of fine tuning the DB during the testing & performance tuning phase of the project.

Responsible for converting the legacy data into the new DB.

Responsible for data audits and control checks for the retirees’ data.

Manager: Thorn Americas January 1995 - June 1996

Implemented and managed a development environment for SDLC of a group of 13 applications for its Rent– A-Center stores. Applications ranged from Inventory management to CRM systems.
