To Whom It May Concern:

This letter should serve as a recommendation for Dean Phillips. Dean had worked for our company, Gehl Foods, Inc., for nearly 7 years (December, 2001 until October, 2008). Due to some unfortunate personal circumstances, Dean was out placed. Simply, he was termed a “no call/no show” and our handbook clearly points out that this is grounds for termination. Was this his intention? The answer is no. Dean was an excellent employee whom unfortunately broke a very strict rule. This is not Dean. I strongly recommend that you listen to his personal situation for it involves a family member he had grave concerns for. Mistakes were made and he is willing to admit and discuss them.

Why would I strongly recommend Dean Phillips to any employer? Despite this one time mistake he was an outstanding employee. Listed are the qualities that should be strongly considered.

• Extremely capable, bright and learns quickly

• Followed procedures extremely well. This was critical in an aseptic food company where procedures are the core of your success.

• He was extremely responsible. He held one of our more serious jobs as a line operator on an aseptic line.

• Dean was extremely flexible. He knew many processes and offered us flexibility by his knowledge.

• He came to work on time and had excellent attendance.

• Dean possesses an excellent attitude. He was well liked by management and his peer group.

• Dean was always willing to work overtime, change his schedule at last minute to accommodate our needs. I would term him a “company person”

There are many other qualities on top of these that I would be very willing to discuss. I recommend him highly.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 262-***-**** Ext. 127.

Respectfully,

John P. Shaughnessy

Vice President, Operations

Gehl Foods, Inc.
